Gravel quarry flattening question
How do you guys handle setting up gravel quarries when you need a flat foundation to build it, but flattening kills the resources?

I normally build quarries in pairs, facing eachother, parallel to the slope. Road connects them, and then road Ts-off to go down the slope to processing. There is certainly a limit to how steep of a slope this can handle, but its not too bad.

I find that trying to place quarries for super high near-100% quality source is not important, because the industry is more limited by the trucks and the processing than the actual quarrying rate.

I started to use an aggregate storage for stone at the gravel processing plant, even though you cant use belts to feed to rock crushers.
Trucks cycle between the quarries and the storage.
Two trucks cycle between a truck loader and the processing plant with a very short distance between them.
This way I can produce way more gravel in a short time. Excavators leaving for a refuel dont stop the complete process. Also loading stone at the truck loader is almost instant compared to the quarries.

Yup that makes sense.

The truth is, for me, Ive never really felt like I needed gravel that quickly tho in a single concentrated location. Maybe for lots of prefabs, or making a big airport. But yeah Ive never actually had enough steel to ever run out of anything else lol.
I needed a lot of gravel for building a highway from east to west to conquer the no mans land.
When the dumpers rolled in I needed a lot of gravel asap.
I often use these mods.

With these I have never faced any probs with lack of gravel. I even export it sometimes with a ship.

I've never seen a reduction in resources when flattening. Is it possible you can show what is happening with screenshots?
flattening does not kill any resources in the game :>
Seen one LP who created a crater above a uranium field to simulate some open pit mining.
Looked cool.
Don't forget gravel is fairly easy to move around in bulk, from places where it's not so inconvenient to have massive gravel infrastructures to places closer to where you need it! Do you really want a quarry there, or maybe a railway offloading point?
MrKrabs, those mods are just plain cheating. But what would one expect from Mr Krabs ^_^
