- ships sometimes swim through the land
- I talked in a previous post about "upgradeable wires" (just like roads) if you know what I mean
That's all that comes into my head right now.
*one way trolley road
*traffic(traffic lights... better traffic managing)
*work shifts (something like a buffer for workers to replace those who leave and so that a building can work to the maximum)
If a busstop has assigned buildings to work at, maybe they could be highlighted like the fields are, and the buildings assigned to a DO.
I already love the game. But these are things that would make it even better:
- Better user interface. It's an overall wish. For example, when we open a vehicle window, there's so much information there! If only windows were resizable both horizontally & vertically and there was an option to open/hide additional info, such as schedule and stats. For me there's no reason to see both speedometer, tachometer, voltmeter, ammeter, or fuel and weight VISUALIZATION icon along with schedule and all possible goods to load at the same time. The only info on the main screen out of that we really need is vehicle visualization, destination station (or status) and speed in text format. Good example of simple neat & usable vehicle window interface is Open Transport Tycoon (not mentioning that overall OTTD UI already looks old in 2021). Just want to say that there's so much that could be improved in game UI to make it more pretty for both old hardcore players and new players. I regularly see new players complain about interface. So an extra person working on UI would make Soviet Republic a much more player-friendly <3
- An option that would solve an issue when a diesel locomotive is getting lost because "suddenly" it runs out of fuel and switches destination/line. It could be: refueling on stations, small refueling stations along the track, basic rough calculations made before the train leaves station (to make sure it has enough fuel to reach destination station).
- Make wooden rails significantly cheaper than concrete ones. It would add an option to use wooden tracks when the game starts. For example, imagine using less steel, so the rails are weaker & that limits the maximum speed. And if a player wants to upgrade such railway, they have to add concrete and more steel later on. I love railroads, but no there's absolutely no reason to use wooden tracks, so I don't know why they exist at all.
And one more thing: the game icon on Twitch looks weird as it's a square stretched to rectangular. Could be easily fixed to look better.
I would like to be able to block living space to prevent people from moving in before I have the town ready for inhabitants.
-cheap housing options, like wood housing that can be build with minimal materials
-better ship pathfinding. They do get stuck on land at times.
-better rail issue finding and missed connection indicator. That's the hourglass, but also sometimes trains refuse to take a piece of rail with no indication why, the line also ignores the rail. Only way to fix this is to replace a huge piece of rail and hope that fixes it, this needs to be easier to diagnose or not be a problem in the first place.
-better late game performance (I get you are working on this, but this is high on my list)
-train pathfinding. Trains sometimes get stuck because they don't look ahead. This happens at train stations and rail yard type settings that may have the exit blocked, but they could have gone a better way relatively close to where they are already...it doesn't have to be full on pathfinding, just maybe look 2-3 signals ahead instead of 1.
So, there are several early game enhancements to rely less on mods and then better diagnostics that I would love to have.
The game has come a long way, and it's super feature rich and is the best city builder out there already, but there is more to do:)
