I never use grid.
But I also never have seen that it can be rotated.
As a small developer myself I know possible workaround but I doubt it will work with the way we have terrain in this game.
No it can not, see above.
Absolutely not how it works.
That´s what I thought.

Okay, if grid is like you say, a visualisation of internal geometry, it's lost.
You can't rotate grid in Minecraft due to the same reasons - it is fabric of realm.
Are you confusing the topography lines with the Grid. The topography can be changed with terrain tools, the grid does not need any changing. You can build anyway you like. On a flat map (the one included) draw a strait road in any direction. The buildings you place along this road will follow the new "grid" along the road. No need to "rotate any grid" this functionality is in the game already.

use the grid to set up whatever you want to set up in the wrong (flat!) place.
Use the clone tool to transpher and rotate it to the correct (FLAT!) place.
it is not a perfect solution, because sometimes things get lost or shifted slightly, it realy does not like buildings almost touching.
I find it works rather well for factory setups includeing conceyors and pipes (like chemical factory groupings)
It might take more than one attempt and some fiddeling after it, but its still faster than eyeball something straight in an odd angle
There is "snap to grid" option in game (F1 twice), therefore OP was asking about rotating grid (which is of course impossible, because these are terrain nodes)
You can place it any way you like, and it align to this new "grid" independent of the lines.
