How to collect trash from apartment buildings?
I'm playing in hard mode in one of my republics and, before I built trash containers the waste bins in the apartment buildings filled up, but the game won't let me send garbage trucks to collect the waste, it just says "not suitable". Help please.

If there is not a road connection to the building housing the garbage container, then only trucks in technical offices can reach and service them.

All the buildings with the garbage containers have a road connection but both the regular and big garbage trucks just say "not suitable in route plan for selected vehicle" when I try to add them to the route of the truck.

Did you create the line in the line manager first? Sometimes that doesn't work because it gets confused about vehicles types and refuses to copy the line to certain types of vehicles.

Waste trucks don't use lines for residentials. Build a technical service building and staff it with waste trucks.

You can use waste trucks on lines, but they require a road connection; buildings and stands with only a pedestrian path cannot be serviced by them.

Thanks guys, using technical services and selecting general separation as the destination just makes them automatically go out and collect the trash from apartments. Would be easier if you could also do it manually with depot trucks but at least it works.
It's much way easier letting technical office handle it, you don't even need to think of it when you give them a destination for their dumping and such, vs a manual line where you're one by one creating things instead of it being automated.

One thing to watch out for too, which I did starting out, I didn't realize certain waste trucks can only collect the large container bins, while others are capable of collecting from residential and such - it says when you hover over the truck tho and I believe too your technical office will let you know if your waste trucks are missing such capabilities

But in terms of residential connected to waste trucks, even if not connected by road, but footpath, your trucks will go to sites automatically, rather than selecting buildings, clicking the load / unload settings etc manually yourself which would take literal ages of gameplay if it wasn't automated.

If anything I'd wonder if you're maybe needing more trucks at technical services, and wonder too did you set settings for the technical services to dump stuff? Make sure you have dumps for mixed waste, hazardous waste, etc within a reasonable trips distance and set them as destinations for your truck the same way you source stuff for buildings to get their supplies and stuff from. I know I've made buildings before then completely forgot to do that haha

Trucks on lines are much more efficient, but technical offices definitely are more hands off.

Would be great if people would bring the trash to big garbage container as soon as you build one instead of the waste being stuck in there untill you've build seperation plant...

Waste can be presorted from the source into nearby skid/bin stands, though you'll need some research done for non-industry buildings to do this. To do this, open the stands' menus and specify a number of containers for each type of waste, and then ensure you have someway to remove each waste type (technical office or trucks on lines). You will still need a separation plant though, as not everything can be presorted.

I'd recommend presorting as much as possible, as this greatly reduces the workload on your separation plants and you reduce the loss of the more valuable wastes (scrap metal and plastic waste) in the sorting process, but the downside is that you'll have to handle three or more waste streams from all buildings instead of only one or two.

this is 0 help and there is literally 0 useful/new information in there.

Then what exactly is your complaint?

Should be obvious.
If you build a flat, forgot to build garbage containers, and the flat is 0.16 of 0.12 tons the only way to get it out is building a seperation plant, as the people won't dump that trash into the garbage container...
not gonna build a seperation plant just to move 0.16 tons of trash out of a single flat.... so they will have to live with the health risk.

There is no health risk for bins unless they are overflowing, and you can empty them with trucks on a line or in a technical services office.

Waste within skid stands will create pollution even if not overflowing, so avoid using them within residential areas.

the internal garbage container of the flat is overflowing.
