I guess I wouldn't play the game anymore if I hadn't started in "realistic" mode
All construction materials can be purchased from the customs house by construction vehicles if the construction yard is set to collect them from the customs house. Also, all construction materials except for Asphalt and Concrete can be stored in different storage buildings; Asphalt and Concrete need to be made fresh from a production building. Once you have a small town established and have workers available you can build an Asphalt and Concrete plant and supply them with Bitumen, Gravel, Cement and water (if using water rules) from connected storage. Concrete can take really dirty water to make it so you can pump it straight out of a river without the need for treating it.
Hope this helps anyone with playing under realistic mode. It can be really challenging at first, but after a while it grows on you and you find yourself wanting to play this way all the time.
Why? I'm extremely confident that for the great majority of players it would make their learning process much smoother to build up to it.
I tried it initally and realized what a dumb idea it was after a few multi-hour restarts of doing the same thing again to get to another point of a fatal mistake I could't possibly see coming because I didn't know the mechanics well enough yet. When 95% of the time is spent doing what you already know to get back to where you've already been, it's just frustration and spinning your wheels. And unnecessarily I might add.
My guess is we two are different type of players. So play as you like.
Me2 ;-)
Yeah, I had this discussion several times. I started playing realistic even without tutorial. Doable and fun. I dont understand why people claim that this is impossible or too much pain. I guess it depends on the tempo, if one plays slow, realistic is great.
Because spending almost all your time restarting and doing things you've already done to get to the next failure point is the exact opposite of how games that teach people well work, and tedious/frustrating/etc. Aka the opposite of fun for most people who play games.
So I did not spent almost all my time with restarting. I can't understand your problems and objections. You seem to draw too many conclusions about others from the way you play.
