I have never seen an earthquake in the game and i played plenty. Maybe you got a mod/script? Also bear in mind, buildings with no road or footpath access will get no maintenance and will collapse.

People are noting what is in the test branch. You also need to enable them, as mentioned above 👍

Do earthquakes now have the same effect on the entire republic? Or is it generating a random epicenter with decreasing strength as distance increases?
Delle(DK) Jan 6, 2024 @ 5:01am
i only see one earth quake so far and it was after about 8 years.
4 buildings catch fire in my city and they needed maintenance after it was over.
My guess is that the earthquake will happen randomly in 1 "city region" area of ifluence and not all over the map, but honestly i also only have one city and 1 industry area right now and so i cannot tell what happen in the other end of the map since i have nothing there

PS.. the west big firetruck ( truck with trailer ) is awesome.. i highly recommend to get at least one for every firestation.

Earthquakes are scarce random event and when they occur, they
a) select an epicenter randomly on the map
b) if in it´s range are your buildings, you get immediately transfered there with your camera
c) if not, you won´t even know

Risks of earthquakes:
- the higher the magnitude, the higher the immediate damage to some buildings in its area and also the higher count of fires. It is not unusual to get 6-7 fires with high magnitude earthquake.
- fires also damage structures, so both of these are a good reason to not wait until 50% for building repairs, but to get it lower, especially in densey built areas.

If you want to see a earthquake of 6,3 magnitude, let me be of service. Clip is in CZ, but you do not need to know the language to understand most of it

BTW it created 6 fires and no bulding was destroyed, though you can see bunch of them needing repair right away. And I run repairs on 40% with dedicated repairCOs on autosearch, just FYI ;)

Thanks for that info. To me, that makes earthquakes quite reasonable. Getting wrecked with one early on a realistic run would be extremely unlikely then.

I did get one on Husak challenge playthrough on my channel, but it was like 4.2 and all it did was some minor damage and a single fire in a 1500 citizens city, so definitely managable. And fire engines are helpful as well, as they can and will auto-cycle through multiple fires after they put out their first one without any need of going back to their home after each fire is done, so that is quite usefull as well

i noticed in the video you are using excavatos for the maintain CO. They are needed? I'm doing my maintain COs just now.

They probably aren´t afaik. But they are nice to have for terraforming and to be fair, they are there since bug when replacing manually my machinery, I ended up with queue of about 15 more then was my CO capable of absorbing, so I kinda moved them into such places anyway and they are a great thing to have when you improving areas you do no longer have your free depots in range :)
