I'm not aware of there being any plans for one – it's probably more trouble than it's worth for a small team to re-do the game to be compatible with what is a small market. You should probably look into the possibility of running it in a virtual machine – but I know nothing about how that's done so I can't help you.

I think with the Apple Game Porting Toolkit and the tens of millions of Mac with Apple Silicon sold, it's a great opportunity to port the game and make fanbase bigger and happier. I play it using Crossover (a wine + metal engine emulator) and it works pretty well, so I think i'd not be hard for the team to port the game to the Mac

Steam Hardware Survey says otherwhise. Almost 97% of users have Windows. All Mac versions combined are at 1.54%.

So you did get it working with crossover? I'm trying to run it using whiskey (a frontend for game porting toolkit) and it just doesnt work: The setup thingie does work, but the game is just a black screen and then a wine error message. Do you have any tips? Thanks in advance :)

Developing for mac is not worth the trouble or cost. Sorry.

People who care about gaming don't use Macs because most game companies don't support mac and never will.

That's not really fair. There are quite a few games that have mac support (mostly larger ones) and there are definitely Mac users who care about gaming.

I know… I just wanted to ask if anyone had experience running this game using apple’s directx to metal translation layer (the game porting toolkit, that’s what it’s called) in whiskey. That uses the normal windows executable and does not require any work by the developer. I do know that windows is better for gaming and more developer-friendly.

I haven't got a clue how appropriate it is mentioning streaming type services, like GeForce Now..? AFAIK it allows you to stream non-native games to devices like a Mac..?

Thats very appropriate, thanks :) and especially for your tone, these apple-windows-discussions seem to get very emotional very quickly… I’d personally just like to avoid another subscription service and Whiskey is free, so I thought I could give it a shot

Your're welcome. Perhaps you could try out the Geforce Now..? AFAIK you get an hour of play for free. Whilst it might be something you do not wish to sub to, it could at least let you know if it is viable and working for you..?

Good luck :)

I didnt know there was a free tier - that is absolutely amazing! Thank you so much :)
I tried it out today and the wait times are pretty reasonable (less than 15min at the right time of day). The game runs very well and the the input latency is more than tolerable but I figured out how to set the aspect ratio correctly too late (it’s under streaming quality > custom which is quite confusing to me) and so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it yet…

That's great news for you.

I understand that some prefer to even pay the subs for a streaming service than spend the money on hardware. Streaming, as it uses a 4080, seems pretty decent. With some caveats, of course.

As long as it has helped you, then enjoy :)
