Is there a way to sell old vehicles ?

My guess is to build a vehicle load/unload train station and send them to the border
or do I have to turn them into scrap and sell the recycled waste ? I have no idea how this works.

im no expert but this is how i solve the issue.
i send all of my vehicle to be scrapped and then my distribution services pickup steel and other things and use that to build new buildings OR i can sell example the steel at the border and get x profit from that.
This solution work well for me.
PRO tip..: if you use automatic replacement of vehicles and auto buy/replace then be aware that after about 20 years then you properbly need millions to replace vehicles.
so example say to your self that now i have 2 million in the bank and i can never go below that amount.. that way you dont run out of money and have a "big" buffer.
Example one auto replace ment of a train is easy 250.000 and in the 80's some trucks cost like 40.000 rubler each BUT they are also double as effective as the 1960s vehicles sometimes so maybe you dont need so many as before.

I tried to send example my old track builder to the border and sell it there but i think i lost money. Maybe it have something to do with "the product" that you are selling.
Some things you can use now, but some things you might want to put into a dedicated storage somewhere for the future when you are able to melt example metal scrap and recycle it.

i know you can export new vehicles and sell them at the border but i actually never tried to build my own vehicles/ships/planes and exporting them due to running out of money or something going wrong so i start over with my republic many times.

But maybe you can try to put x vehicle in a storage and then have another big truck come and pick it up and drive it to the border, maybe it will sell it ( i dont know its a guess )

I´m using the "Space for vehicles/container" building(advanced industry).
Then I set this as depot for my old cars and set up a route for an open hull to sell them at the border.

Road and Train vehicles have to be sent to a space for vehicles and then be carried to customs or beyond the border. Train vehicles can also be towed.

Ships and aircraft have to be sent to a dock/pad, have their line cleared, then have just one stop to a "beyond the borders" with "unload" and "load" cleared, and then be launched.

Cableway cars/cabins and forklifts cannot be sold, but forklifts can be told to go to a scrapping facility and cableway cars/cabins do not experience wear and tear.

Thanks for the detailed explanations, I don't want to spend hours building something that doesn't work, I think I had the right idea, I'm currently building a vehicle and container train station and try to sell them at the border by train, but I'm not sure if this only works for new cars, maybe that's why Delle(DK) lost money with selling the track builder, so for example when a vehicle has a wear and tear score of 80% you receive less money, than for a vehicle thats slighty used and has a wear and tear of only 20% and maybe higher ones are seen as scrap, so you end up paying for it, makes sense imo.

Also curious about the old track builder. Sending directly to the border costs money. But I seem unable to tow it with a locomotive from the train depot. Something like "cannot mix locomotives" or so

Old vehicles sell for -ve cash.. build a scrapyard and recycle them for scrap metal, steel, and components, especially if you're playing in realistic mode.
