Yes, before I download something, I first wait for the comments and download quantity...
And the mods from already known authors, I usually download them the first time...
But i did experience problems with maps that are 2-3 years old. The border of the maps
sometimes have become damange so you cannot connect wires to import/export electricty
and in some cases the border crossing also cannot be connected to.
I think many maps need to be updated on the workshop.
MY advice regarding maps always check all border crossings and that they are working as they should before you start to build anything.
Also many maps do not have all resources since they are outdated.
It is also very frustrating to play on such a map and spend +20 houres playtime to discover you cannot produce x things ( but you can import the resources ) but it is just frustrating.
And there you have it - different strokes for different folks.
Most of the issues I have seen on this forum have been with the author suddenly deleting the mod and thus breaking a save, old mods not updated for new features, or in weird behavior with broken functions.
It had to do with different settings. Modded residential buildings work fine - if you turn off pollution. For those who have pollution turned on it's game breaking no matter what category of folk they are. =)
