What's the point of Scrap and Aluminum Separation facilities?
I know they are more efficient at separating metal and aluminum scrap, but I don't know what the efficiencies affect. It seems like there is no point building the facilities.

You just answered yourself.

I haven't built one yet but looking forward to do so.
I guess you get more scrap out of it.
Tbh I would like to see scrap yard combined. Aluminum and metal.
But I'm okay with it.
You need it just next to You aircraft industry. Separate aluminium from trash generated by aircraft production like and sent rest to regular separation.
I build full recycling chain and I regret having aluminium separation plant there but it is what it is.

General separation is like 80% and they are like 95%.
That said general separation is hard to set up with all the things it can create, without moving stuff via truck. So you could go through a metal separation first, then through general in order to not have to worry about metal in the general, if you didn't want to use trucks.
Also forklifts will not move waste.

Efficiency determines how much scrap is recovered from a mix of waste, while the remainder becomes "other waste."

For example, for every ton of scrap metal in a mix of waste, the general separator extracts 0.87 tons of scrap metal and converts the rest (0.13 tons) to "other waste," but the Scrap separator extracts 0.98 tons of scrap and converts only 0.02 tons to "other waste."

Generally you want higher efficiencies to get the stuff you want, but you might want to mix construction waste into mixed waste so that you can convert 35% of it into "other waste," which can be burned for heat or power instead of having to deal with it as gravel.

I have something like this. It treats Hazardous Waste separately but for regular mixed waste this is complete solution.
You just put mixed waste and receive resources + ash.

İ dont use general seperator . The use of it is most when you do not edify your society. So you can just dump all mixed to it then it sorts.

When your society grows your numbers also grow and you probably edify your society. Thus general scrap seperation is no longer much imporance due to they are seperated at bins.

i use recyling oneoone of the entire map to a zone that is designated for recycling. and the recyled materials are used as supplementary for my industrial zones and repair shops
