It works here.
At the picture you can see the carpenter shed mod pulling wood from the storage while pushing boards out.

Do you have a screen shot of your problem?
It surprised me too while i have been playing the game for many months now, i always took these connections for asphalt or concrete forklift roads. ( with or without the forklifts )
As far as I can see it "should" work.
I also see the factory connections as asphalt roads for forklifts and assume they don't need electricity. They just need a proper animation of working when they actually do something,
No matter what, electricity is there.

In short, the logistics feel a bit broken at the moment: goods not forwarded into storages and the distribution offices also seem to not work properly. Result: people die or flee, no (stable) income.
Maybe I miss something and/or the rules of the game are not explained properly.
Sorry folks.
I have the same problem with a connection.
I changed the Faktory connection to two way.
I didn't test yet it that solved my problem.

After a couple of in-game days: nothing happens. :/
While I can understand, that the game might have problems understanding my intention of one-way movement of goods: it is already in the game and the game totally should do what I order it to do!
OR there should be more options to manage the flow of goods between buildings.
So far they are a bit crude and -obviously- non-functional.
OR AT LEAST the game should tell me whats wrong so that I can fix it.
So I assume this mechanic is prone to breaking/bugging-out.
Too bad since this negates the a big chunk of the logistics-part of the game. :(
Ya, seems to be broken. I can't see why your setup wouldn't work.
This is definitely broken. And because it is possible to ruin your republic with this bug I would consider calling it game breaking.
Also update on my woodcutting post: now it stopped working completely.
Tried to use a disti office to move the wood into the open storage: truck came twice now nothing.
Seems to be something new.
I am confident that it will be fixed soon as it always has before.
The devs did a great job during the past when it comes to fixing issues.
is the internal storage of that building full? :) Becuse Containers, that means also cars etc does not move through factory connection, before the internal storage of that building is full. Only after that they will move to store in connected storage :)
So the storages/dumps etc. act as an overflow reservoir? IF this is the case then the devs definitely need to rework this. This breaks a lot of logistics or requires several layers of transportation to work like a proper, sensible logistics system.
In fact if the export storage has to be full before the game uses the factory connections, the factory connections become next to useless -due to the idiotic placement requirements needed to connect factories- and it is more appealing to carpet bomb the place with free distribution offices and buy trucks for every menial transport task. Imagine the fuel costs! And the investment in trucks! And repairs.
I doubt that this is the intention of the devs for this game. This seems spectacularly dumb. Even if so, the option -think a check mark- to always and entirely forward all the goods of the export storage of a building into the connected warehouse, dump etc. should be implemented.
Anyways. This needs some attention from the devs.
