Farming output
So, how many farms would be required to keep thhree factories (distillery, food and fabric) going non stop? As i see it, you need to import crops if you want an industry going. Also is it possible to make the silos draw the farm storage completely empty? now my silos are all empty with 144 tons of crops in the farm. My farm currently handles 42.68 Ha of land

Currently, with seasons enabled and using machinery only (no people on fields, they reduce output), one big field (4.8Ha) produces ~300t crops per year.
Thus, for one food factory, up to 42tx365days/300t=51 large fields (about 245 hectares) are needed. Somewhat less, given that the plant will probably not operate at 100% capacity all year.

A nice reminder that our everyday food is a lot of land.

1 hectare produces +/- 62 tons of crops

so i suppose i need three times as many then.. that is a LOT of land, might as well import the cropsand make a profit...fun fact first years i has the reverse problem because of low population and factory output...meanwhile the new industrial complex that imports crops via railroad has a permanent lack of workers...oooh, decisions, decisions

Keep in mind that you can farm on hilly land too; only the edge with the road needs to be on flat land.

Holy smokes! i was thinking to make a world that takes care on its own.
Never mind, importing it is xD

Well, you'll be missing out on a unique challenge of the game.

Currently 1 large farm ( 6 large fields, 2 medium fields and 3 small ones ) produces enough for all 3 crop factories plus 2 chemical plants.

That is with solid and liquid fertilizer being applied ( in abundance )

I think fertilizing improved farm yield a lot, previously i never had enough crops for even 1 city.

The thing that riddles me is the low yield of the chemical plants....0,81 chemicals per day ?? Come on how man of such factories do i need ???

That's like 4000 tons of crops a year, which is enough to run all those factories for about 36 days. Did you mean at partial production?

To be independent from imports might be a long term goal for many players. I achieved that one time. However that was a few years ago.
With the introduction of fertilizers it is possible now to have a way better output from the farms.

The pictures above are from the Alaska Map. It was kinda challenging to get the harvest into the silos in time.

To get the logistics managed is one of the biggest fun to me when playing this game.
