How can I get fertilizer out of a dump if it is mixed with bio waste?

I store bio waste in a dump (with claw machine). It nicely converts into fertilizer over time. I have a distribution office with large waste trucks that should pick up fertilizer from this dump and transport them to my farm, but it doesn't pick it up. The percentage of fertilizer in teh dump is around 40%. It does pick up fertilizer from the border if I tell it, so the waste trucks seem to be fine for the task.

How can I get the fertilizer out of my dump?

The best way to get it is to use the waste separation and have a container(s) dedicated to bio waste. From there take it to the compost plant to turn it into fertilizer

I just built one small dump and one skid storage next to it.
I dump the biowaste into the left and have a small truck constantly picking up fertilizer from the dump to unload it at the right. Dunno exactly how much it makes.
One DO picks it up all the time and takes it to the farm.

The tro buildings are a little far back near the HV cable post.

Well, not easy. From what I´ve heard you can use direct lines to pick it up.

My solution is to collect biowaste from the city to waste collection yard (basically 2 x 30 containers on the edge of town to minimize driving of TS vehicles) and from there I truck this waste in those 6,5t skids directly to farms via DO. Every farm has 1-2 dumps attached directly via factory connections and farms can suck that fertiliser from it directly without issues.

That might be a way for you as well ;)

For documentation, here is the result of my tests on the current release version of the game:

- Picking up fertilizer mixed with bio waste doesn't work with a distribution office.
- Picking up fertilizer mixed with bio waste works with a line.
- The percentage of fertilizer in the bio waste (visible with mouse over over the waste in the dump) has to be at least 30% to pick something up. When setting the line to pick up fertilizer and wait until loaded and the percentage goes down when picking up some loads, the truck will start to wait while loading when the percentage reaches 30%.

It would be great if distribution offices could be changed to pick up the fertilizer (from the bio waste), too. I understand that this probably isn't straight forward.

Having watched a DO send a truck to pick up fertiliser from a dump while the dump still had biological waste I believe the actual answer is there need to be a full load of fertiliser in the dump before a DO will send a truck, so fertiliser being 50%+ in a dump with 13t of waste will see the truck being dispatched.

If you connect a dump that only allows biological waste to a building that creates biological waste, it will automatically decay into fertilizer. If you have a waste truck set to load from this dump then it will only take fertilizer from the dump.

If you want to collect biological waste from other buildings (ones without factory connections) then you can use garbage stands with bins set to accept biological waste, but you will have to take this to another dump to decay into fertilizer or take it to a composting plant for conversion.

Another problem I have encountered. If I set up the dump to take bio waste and there is only fertiliser in the dump after decomposition then DO won't drop off bio waste? Just tested this by moving some bio waste from the customs House to dump. Dump now shows that it is a bio dump rather than fertiliser dump and DO offices now recognise this and have started to move bio waste again.

You must not designate it as biowaste only. Just don´t tick any boxes and DO will do just fine :)

Hi - does not seem to be working - as soon as the dump turns fully into fertiliser it wont accept anymore Bio Waste

i am having same pb as you guys. As soon as I dump a bit of bio waste, it turns into fertilizer and prevent the tech office to dump bio waste again. I think the only way is to add a direct line and pick fertilizer constantly.

Ok - Came up with a workaround. Set up one dump for Fertiliser and one for Bio waste. Used a DO to move Fertiliser from one to the other. Once emptied the dump accepted Bio waste again but if both can co-exist in one dump then the game needs to be changed to allow delivery of both into one dump

it can be delivered both to one dump, but maybe not with TS? Because with DO I can totally do it (and am still doing it) and it is working fine.

I've seen a DO pick up fertilizer from a biowaste dump. It works if the destination dump has only fertilizer (maybe set the tickbox for fertilizer only, if you want to do this way?).
Also, DOs can send biowaste to dumps that already have fertilizer, you just have to check the box for only biowaste.

As soon as you only have fertiliser in the dump then the DO stops delivery bio waste. If you have a mix of the both then the DO will continue to deliver bio waste
