Can trains hit cars?
just a simple question since im worried about my trains hit my road vehicles lol ( ive played too much Openttd )

Nope.
Trains cannot even hit each other.
Sadly "collisions" are just a gentle bumping instead of a glorious explosion.

It would probably just destroy the vehicle and you would have to get a new one, just like in OpenTTD

Seconding this. They implemented traffic signals and all that, but when they overtake, they don't take into account the vehicles on the opposite lane.

I mean only when trains hit cars. Cars hitting other cars would have no effect

Collisions and/or traffic accidents are not implemented and I wonder if they ever be. Also with drivers disobeying max. speed, etc. Police should be used not just to suppress criminal activies, but also check motorists, investigate traffic accidents and serve as prevention against speeding. No police = speeding drivers = more accidents = lower happyness.

If there is a penalty for things colliding with other things, then the player must have a way to prevent the collision.
Otherwise it would be unfair and like a random event or natural disaster.

What can the player do to prevent trains hitting cars?

maybe make a type of signal that closes railroad crossings early like signals do in Open TTD
