You then manually order the truck to go to the customs (add stop order). Here, you will get the usual Load/unload menu. At the bottom of it, under the usual construction materials and stuff, there should be a vehicle icon, when checked, two more options (new and used vehicles) will appear.
Check the correct one (most likely "new"). Then give the truck a second waypoint, at a construction yard of your chosing. Again, in the load/unload submenu, there should be an option to "unload - new vehicle".
Then send the truck on it's way. It will pick up the crane, and drop it off at the CO. Keep in mind that the truck will continue to travel between customs and the CO indefinitely, so you need to hunt it down and delete the orders afterwards.
The same process is also needed when you are buying a track-laying machinery for a rail-construction yard, or cabins for your cable-cars. The latter often requires your tuck to take several rounds. You also use more-or-less the same system to take things like vagon's from your customs to your depos and railroad distribution centers.
For example, the V3S truck can carry the KT50 bulldozer despite the bulldozer's weight exceeding the V3S's maximum tonnage capacity.
If you're not sure what vehicles/containers a vehicle can carry, or if you want to know what vehicles can carry a given vehicle/container, you can open its menu and click on the icon that looks like a blue (?) over a truck. This will open a menu of all the vehicles/containers it can carry or the vehicles that can carry it.
Vehicles also seem to be shrunk down a bit when carried, probably so trucks can carry their own model/brand for export.
If you have more than one of that type though, it will attempt to load as many as it can, in which case your only option is to send the locomotive to the next stop once it has the number of wagons you want it to take.
thx that helps that at least i dont get the train stolen by myself ;)
It covers your question as well.
You can watch it here if you like.

This actually got fixed relatively recently. Now you can select the wagons you want to move and change their workplace to the destination. When you send a train with orders to load wagons it will only grab the ones that you flagged. No more moving RDO wagons by intercepting a train, thank god.
Wow, really? I need to check that out. Never heard of this mechanic before!
wow i can pick specific models...was expecting someting like pick tanks or covered wagons...
but not with crane.
i use Mark E with crane TC2
TC2 shows that Mark E is ok for carying it.
so what could be? may be i need some investigation finished, or building office highest tier or what?
Than it works automatically.
Also i think some changes to crane logic were made semi recently, if you are trying make it move to a small construction site it might not work. Cant remember the criteria but some constructions will only take road cranes now afair (idk if it can be forced through).
