How to store fertilizer?
So I’ve just placed one of the large transfer stations to store some fertilizer, but is there a better way that I’m overlooking?

well you could use the dumps too, but they are way slower for loading, so i would say transfers are a great way to store it

Transfer stations are the best inter-laying storage (aka storage you load from). You can dump solid fertilizer directly to small/large dumps connected fo farms via factory connections.

Not only they can store much more of it at the same place, but you can as well dump directly biological waste at farms this way as well and it turns itself into fertilizer over time without need of chemicals or composting plant. And farm CAN and WILL draw out the fertilizer, even if that thing would be mixed with freshly imported biowaste.

You should try to store it in vehicles, container stands, or buildings, as fertilizer decays away in dumps.

What do you mean decays? Like it disappears? I am not sure about that but I have met really low % of fertilizer (former biowaste) sitting in a dump forever preventing anythine else being stored there and it didn´t go away, so ...

When I tested it earlier, I found that fertilizer would decay away (actually everything would except construction waste), but when I tested it now, I found that not only would fertilizer not decay away, but the dump would also generate biological waste without any connections:

I think the waste decay mechanic may be broken.

Actually it finally stopped after a while. maybe the transfer of biological waste is delayed?
Weird.

all the flys in the area fly to it and then die on the pile over time...dont want to life near that, the air must be black from all the flys in it :)

How did you get that biowaste in there in the first place? Autobuy? Because biowaste SHOULD and WILL turn into fertiliser over time, so with set autobuy of biowaste you will autobuy biowaste and have fertilizer created in the process (though not sure about the speed of change in 3 days :D)

At first I had it connected to the livestock farm because it produces a lot of biological waste, but after I deleted the factory connection more biological waste kept appearing and decaying into fertilizer. After a week or so, it stopped appearing and everything was just fertilizer.

I kind of think biological waste decays too quickly into fertilizer; combined with the 1:1 conversion ratio, I don't know why anyone would ever build a composting plant.

Well, one way would be for transport maybe or for reliable production. Rotting in dumps goes much faster in summer then in winter temperatures. Creating fertilizer in plant it makes it easier for you to have it all as fertiliser without a wait, as fertilising season is after summer (good temperatures) and right after snow is out, where there still be a lot of biowaste instead of fertiliser and that could create a problem (lower yield) for you.
