I can imagine in actual cities it is much the same. Most waste can be compressed to only a percentage of the volume when it went in, and full size trucks can handle tons of weight of compressed waste.
So it is pretty realistic if they are NOT returning to the dump full, unless they are much smaller vehicles or they have inhumanly long working shifts.
No. It is not the same. Maybe depends on where? Maybe in rural areas you don't have time to fill the garbage truck, but in cities you fill it within 2-3 hours. I was a garbage collector for more than 15 years and we never drove to the dump unless the truck was full except for the last run.
Why would you go to the dump unless the truck is full. Doesn't make any sense to go half full. It only means more runs.
End of shift...on regular days i couldn't fill it completely until my shift ended.
I guess we worked with a completely different density of waste per square km/mile.
I don't think, that devs will ever do big changes to the distribution game mechanics, but lines are a very good alternative.
The lines "for collecting from several places" have a very serious flaw. If there are five loading points in succession, and the car is full at the third point, it will still visit the remaining two points. That is, the filled car does not skip loading points.
But when unloading, an empty car skips unloading.
Thanks for the info. Seems to be a bug, because in the past I saw trucks doing lines which deliver goods to many shops. And if they got empty they returned home and skip the rest of the tour.
EDIT: The good thing is, I can check the incoming garbage trucks at the dump and if one is full there is need to add another garbage truck to the route. So that issue is not permanent.
We had a couple of mini garbage trucks for taking stray stops in industrial areas, rural areas, and garages (where the big truck couldn't fit) and this mini garbage truck sometimes wasn't full so I can relate to what you are saying. What kind of trucks did you use at the airport?
When we bought our garbage trucks we used engineers to calculate weight and other statistics so different runs had different garbage trucks because it is most efficient to have TWO FULL LOADS a day per garbage truck. 3 hours emptying garbage cans, 1 hour driving to and unloading at the dump, then repeat before end of shift.
Those who were good at their job did not spend 3 hours emptying cans though but could do it in double time, which ment double pay (per hour) because we could go home when we had nothing else to do.
Yes, that's right. If it is necessary to deliver to ten stores, then as soon as the truck is empty, it will skip all the points where it has unloading, until the next "loading".
But if you want to collect goods from five factories by track - five loads and one unloading - then even if the truck is filled at the first factory, it will still visit all five.
