In the special garbage warehouses it is reasonably ok. But at the border it is really much too slow and that there are no freight stations that can load garbage at all and at a reasonable speed is also a huge problem. In addition, the vanilla buildings for handling the garbage have far too few connections.
The possibility that the production chains tear have multiplied with the garbage update. Due to the long loading times, the low loading capacities of the vehicles, the high waste production (especially hazardous waste) and the few connection options (no additional loading points are possible), it is not even possible to secure the production chains through waste export or internal redistribution.
I think it should be rebalanced in several points in any case.
i also seen the difficulties you have stated. i overcome them but the loading times from depot to train (the rail connection ones and yes they are powered) is seem to be becoming main bottle neck. i begin to consider making machineclaw dump hubs consist of several of them for single city block of mine. and what i dont like is that in those i cant store more than single type of waste means for each waste i have to build one clawdump .
