Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic

Trolleys/Trams/Streetcars/whatever Road shows no power icons, despite having it??
I gave up on my 10th attempt at creating a functional republic for two reasons: 1. I designed my city too small by accident meaning that there weren't enough workers to ensure any went to the heating/power plants. 2. Although I went with a diesel train network, which offered resiliency against running out of money temporarily since the trains would keep moving. It meant that extra infrastructure for fueling was required, as well as, importing fuel which is rather... expensive. So I decided to try again, but with an entirely electric train network. In my last playthrough I experimented with using trams or whatever you want to call them to move workers around. I found that plugging in just one transformer to the road was enough to power vast swaths of roadway. Now, I am doing similar, but all the roads have lightening bolt icons on them. I've checked everything, and the transformer is getting power at 21 KV, but without any trams on the roads, there is no wattage being drawn. I've tried rebuilding the tram roads that connect to the transformer, and nada. I've checked the nodes to make sure all are tram roads, and they are. I simply don't know what's going wrong here! My last attempt had no issues at all. At this point, I'm considering just ripping it all up and trying to build a f*****g subway. (That, or trolleybuses maybe? Can trolleybuses use these overhead wires or do they have to be the road specifically for them?)

Can you post a screenshot of the issue, with appropriate buildings opened. If you are using trams make sure you are using tram substation and not trolley bus substation. Also if trams are going from railway to tram roads, both sides need to be powered separately.
Also, the power icon will disappear, if you attach it to the substation, regardless whether it has power or not.

Make sure that you have connected a tram trafo as shown here within the road tram network....

note the current is close to the maximum that the single connection can supply, perhaps needing another one at some point.

If you do try and use the trolleybus one iirc it will not show the required tram lines within the road and not work.

Also, trolley and tram trafos will also not transmit power from other trafos across them. Try not to build them in a serial fashion.

Electric railway connections will transmit power through other electric railway connections.

Well, THAT made me feel stupid!
