Can and should I import uranium waste for profit?
I want to make some extra money and I thought I should try to import uranium waste.

1: Is it even possible to import it?

2: Is it even a good idea?

I've tested that out of curiosity:

Small container storage: max 64 nuclear waste container
Big container storage: max 208 nuclear waste container

For a start in 1960 the prices to auto build from scratch are as follows:
Small storage ~7200 rub
Big storage ~ 16200 rub

Assuming 200 rub per container profit per storage is as follows:
Small: 64 * 200 - 7200 = 5600 rub profit
Big: 208 * 200 - 16200 = 25400 rub profit

You need to substract from that the cost of extra infrastructure and fuel costs for container transport.

So in short:
1. Yes it is possible and you can import by buying the containers manually at the border and transporting them via truck or train

2. It is in most cases not a good idea, require lots of micromanagement, the gains are minimal and you can end up filling your republic with buildings full of waste.

i would say that would be good way to loan funds. when you have lots you can send them back even the price is double :D

from a large customhouse you can buy like 1100 uranium waste container. and its like 200 ish each as result gives you like 200k ruble and you dont need to pick them up they just stay there. If you pick em up and stockpile you can buy more and more :D but you need to click like million times :D

also when i bought like a 250t of nuclear waste i saw a weird behaviour from echonomics.

when i bought price of nuclear waste in ruble went down. that was expected.

however when it went down its dollar price got increased. that was weird . i dont know why . i would expect it to go down like the ruble price but it did not.

In my post i've made calculation with prices at 1960 hard start of total profit per storage once you fill it up. I didn't think about leaving the containers at the customs house, it feels a bit cheaty IMO.

I was wondering if buying sewage and dumping it in the river would could be profitable, it's the same approach except that you can do it indefinitely with only 1 discharge building.

I've seen people making money exporting gravel by trucks. I think a full truckload of gravel costs about the same as a full truckload of sewage (about 100 rubles modulo). So a tiny income, in theory, should work.

PS: still wondering if there will be a profitable economy when importing garbage in the next garbage update

As far as I can tell, radioactive contamination is only released when nuclear power plants catch fire. You can literally dump the waste out of the container without any consequences once you buy them and then "sell" the container for no money.

Radioactive pollution goes only 1km around storage.

actually this is pretty realistic lol. My country is 3rd world country and it literally had a nuclear waste rot in depot for many years. ( a remaining gamma radiation emission core for a radio theraphy device) and then the depot sold and the guy who bought the depot sold the container as scrap metal to recyclist folks and they cut it open spit it to its pieces and burned in a furnace and caused nuclear contamination. Also from that core there were 2x more which has been transformed to customs and waited there like year before shipping to recycling. And nobody questioned where was the 3. one.....

In the next version they're supposed to introduce recycling. I'm curious if you could create a garbage republic like certain countries that import electronic waste and strip them down.
