forklifts
It seems they overload at the train station and cant move other goods. Is there a way to fix it?

Can you please give more details? How exactly are they being used?

Generally, forklifts are useful when you need to move a large amount of goods over a large amount of time. Buffer storage is the best example of this.

However, they are completely useless for instant consumption or high-bandwidth transfers, such as the ones required by loading/unloading stations of any kind.

You should always link your load/unload stations (be it train or otherwise) by direct factory connection with the storages.

You may use forklifts to keep these direct-link storages stocked (or unstocked, depending on case) by moving goods between the direct-link storages and background storages.

I have 2 cargo road stations connected to 2 forklift garages which are connected to a cargo train station. I transport by train steel, prefabs, boards and bricks. Steel is a scared resource. But they seem to try to load the other resources which the train is full

Don't ever use forklifts, you will have an easier time.

IMO, it's way better to use trucks instead of forklifts, because they have a bigger capacity and are faster.

You are correct. But everybody plays the game different.
I avoid the forklifts most of the time. But I find them somewhat eyecandy.
So I chosen to rig them up at one harbor.

The problem is cargo train stations don't have a spot for trucks

Trucks can still load or unload a train; they just use the road.

The main advantage of forklifts is how cheap they are, especially since they can handle 4 of the 6 types of cargo (and replace those trucks). If throughput or time are not an issue they work fine. They are also nice for supplying small amounts of goods to a clump of industries.

I like that this game has advantages and disadvantages for each mode of transport.

Visually I do enjoy seeing forklifts, for me this game isn't just about optimising everything, eyecandy counts :)

This eight forklift station does a decent job at keeping up with crops transferring to a fabric factory, and that is a double production, over std, clothing factory that the fabric one is feeding.....

There should really be augers in the game for things like crops. I don't think it would be too difficult considering there is already conveyors. IRL, nobody would ever use forklifts to transfer crops.

Well, some products are transported as mass goods or got packed and therefore became another sort of good. When I as a private person buy concrete I highly likely get it in a sack or two. If I would require a couple of tons than that form of packaging wouldn't come handy anymore. Same goes for grain. To reflect that to the game it should be considered either as an open good or a packed one. I don't know if some sort or package station should or could be implemented.
Just wanted to highlight those facts.

Yah, but a factory isn't going to buy it in sacks obviously. I live in grain country (unfortunately), and I've never seen grain transported by anything other than truck, train, or auger into a bin (which is what factories here use).
