Yeah, I'm aware of that and try to avoid it on main roads at least. But my original question did not stem from trying to explain some slow down I experienced myself; I just wondered if I understand bballjo here correctly in regard to pedestrians having a separate effect.
Assuming the leading one is slower/accelerates slower of cause, otherwise there is no issue. You can also place a speed limit to avoid it or re-route slow vehicles with road signs to a gravel road or similar.
It was mentioned in one of the last reports that pedestrian markings get removed when only one side has a footpath connected, but that's just a visual thing. No impact on game play imho.
