Why everyone puts oil on water?
I am sure that this have been asked before but couldn´t find any answer yet.
Seriously people.. what's the point?
I got tired of rising terrain, I don´t get it. Is there any meta on this. I feel it doesn´t add anything to the game except grinding through terrain

I enjoy maps that put oil in boggy swampy areas. My method isn't to flatten the entire swamp but to create roadways between the pumpjacks where necessary. Even if it isn't the most efficient or shortest route, it looks thematically better

There is offshore drilling platform in the workshop. They might be created with it in mind, if it's rather deep.

You can also raise the land up to make resources available, and there are mining dredges on the workshop too.

Just a word of advice for the mod i sent above. If you are building it REALLY far from shore it means you wont have power to supply your oil platform. Fear not, though. There is a "power plant" version of that platform. You will find it on the power plant tab of the mod window.
All you gotta do is supply it with fuel and workers and it will start making lots of oil (enough to compensate for the fuel you supply it).

It took me a few weeks to realize the self powered version were on the "power plant" tab of the mods window and not on the "mine" tab like the normal one, lol

Also, the heliport is functional so you can send workers by helo.

You can use the terrain editor to add (or delete) all resources, including stone deposits. After all, iIt's your game, and nobody will know. Grant yourself the pleasure you would expect from a game, whatever the others will tell you.
I'm sure there will be hostile reactions to this post, because some players think they have the right to impose their point of view that this is not the way this game is meant to be played. But who cares?

I agree, but be careful you don't take all the challenge out of the game by accident.

If you take something out by accident, just put it back...
Why do you need a challenge by the way? And if my pleasure playing this game is just building nice looking cities with unlimited money, or even play with trains?

I agree with the sentiment (my personal favorite map is Taiga Hardcore with only one spot per resource) but at the end of the day it's a single-player game and thus is subject to the playstyle of whomever is playing it.
if you dont wish the playermade map then dont use it
there are so many tools you can use to get resources and make maps

it takes 10 second to get oil on your map where you wish

If that's how you like to play, that's fine, but then why aren't you playing with city skylines (the city painting game) or transport fever 2 (train game with more options)? W&RSR is much more about resource management than anything else; take that out of the game and it loses much of what makes it unique, hence my warning.
