How to ship trains and sell to other countries

It seems not available to ship the built trains like exporting cars. How to do this

With trains, the produced trains act like trailers so far i have seen.

IIRC one of the tutorials has a setup for that, exporting cars and trains via ships. One Train picks up any build locomotives/wagon at factory and unloads at general goods station connected to harbor (wait until unloaded). The ship is waiting to be filled.

This confused me too. One crucial detail that is often glossed over when I was researching the solution is that you can only export trains with a *dedicated* loco. In other words you can't have a loco + a bunch of general wagons trying to attach a new train to sell on its way out.

Set a train without wagons to load at railway production facility and unload at customs house. It will pick up finished locomotive and wagons

That's how I use to do it. But I've never tried it with other wagons in combination.

1. You build rail vehicle factory
2. You build a train in the factory. When it finishes it will appear near the building
3. You build tracks directly from the factory to the border and build a rail depot nearby

Note #1 that you don't need flatbed cars, they will just connect the new vehicles after the locomotive and it will tow them to the border like a normal train.
Note #2 that if you have new railcars behind your locomotive and you send the trains to the depot the rail vehicles will be put into the depot and you will not be able to sell them at the borders anymore. This is good when you produce rail vehicles for yourself.
Note #3 If you are manufacturing locomotives for yourself you can send them directly to the depot after their production is finished. You just click them and the send to the depot button.
