I am aware of that. But they will be adding more western cars to the base game at some point in the future.
The horse carriage is to slow for my taste and play style.
The Mack Trucks are the driving force in my republic atm.
About cars I couldn't say to much yet due to lack of experience.
The real question is: what is a foreign car?
A Ford or Porsche type car made by our brave citizens in the factories of our glorious Republic is not a foreign car. It's a car made here.
And that we can export with the label "made in here".
Does the soviet union ever fail in this world?
I mean nothing ever changes, you can always buy and sell everything as you like.
Then FIAT's were produced in the eastern block under license.
Original cars and licensed variants are also treated equally (worth the same)
But there should be a carmaker from our republic.
There is currently no "need" for fancy cars because the head of state does not exist as a person. (Think of the mayors house in sim city)
This is an interesting proposition, the game does have a code for "Domestic Product" for vehicles so creative modders can make their own design and pass it off as the Republic's own product.
The Soviet Countries imported a lot of western cars that made into their police forces or CONVENIENTLY into the hands of Party Members. Some wealthy citizens could get them though.
Ironically after the fall of The Soviet Union, old soviet cars became cool and imports became the normal cars. Car culture did a flip.
There were locally, license-produced Fiats/Zastavas in Serbia (1300, 600, 128 for example), Citroens in Slovenia (Ami 8, 2CV, Dyane 6, GS and even DS, but in smaller amount), Renaults also in Slovenia (4,5,12 and 16's), Austins in Slovenia (Mini and 1300), Volkswagens in Bosnia (1200 aka "Beetles" and Golf I and II) and Opels in Serbia (Kadetts in 1980's). Some models still roam in former republics, but they've lost the battle against the new imported models.
So, western cars in the Soviet-themed republic, why not? I agree with suggestion. :)
