more roads types
I think the game needs more types of walk paths and roads : with greed sidewalks and trash cans, with parking lanes, with two lanes per direction, with tram, with water and sewage, with metro and all, highway 2 lanes, 3 lanes.

Roadway with tram tracks built into it would be a nice addition to the game.

A road quality between mud and gravel could also be useful. Graded road or something. Top speed would be 45kph.

Bus lanes or even better a custom-set restricted-lane one-way street. I don't need it all cheaty with stops built into roads and stuff, but to be able to designate a lane of a one-way street to be completely reserved to a certain type of vehicle that I designate. Only buses, only firetrucks and ambulances, etc.

This would be the perfect way to implement multi-lane roads. Of course, animated transitions can be removed as they're a bit excessive.

That's freaking incredible...

By "greed sidewalks", I assume you meant "green sidewalks"? If it's green, then it's not a sidewalk. If you wanted grass between the road and the sidewalk, you could just place a path parallel to the road.
Trash cans and similar details would definitely be a nice touch to roads with sidewalks.
As far as I know, the devs are already looking into implementing multi-lane roads.

Unfortunately, it would be pretty hard and most likely impractical to implement parking spaces into roads, as the way the game is coded is that it calculates all the possible routes between parking lots in advance.

One thing I don't understand though is why would you want a road with water, sewage, or metro tunnels built into it? Pretty sure you could simply build them underneath the road.

And I don't think we need to differentiate between roads and highways, as in the game they're essentially the same thing.

ill give you a couple of green boulevards like https://gdb.rferl.org/6eba1cd8-8875-442f-9573-c393649fd82e_w1023_r1_s.jpg https://cetateanul.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/negoita-6.jpg you cant even see the sidewalk from all that green but im sure the devs will do a great job.

There are mods for parkings. It's just long parking with pass through road. Works fine with moderate traffic, but can block itself when there's a jam in one direnction and a car from opposite direction wants to cross that line to get to parking spot. If jam is caused by same situation down the road, only way to clear it is to teleport few cars home. I hope that with next update we will be able to allow only personal cars on such "parking road" to limit passing traffic.

As for more road types, I'd like paved roads for old towns in place of gravel, with it downgraded a bit. And ofc tram rails. Problem is with way the game handles all roads and rails. It's simple upgrade system when higher grade adds another construction phase. gravel>asphalt>streetlamps>trolley wires. Only exception is rail on wooden sleepers. That's why we can't upgrade wood sleeprs to elecrified rails and wood to concreate costs as much steel as building from scratch, as it isn't just another construction phase on top. Adding more types would require engine change to allow branching and merging of upgrade graph.

Single lane narrow roads with no collisions and I think it might be possible to do the tram thing like many of us want to.
