More agricultural machinery per fields
As the title says, i'd like to have several tractors/harvesters beeing able to work on one field. I think this would really increase efficiency and won't be overpowered from a game perspective.

I'd rather allowed more trucks to work at one field, as it still seems to be the chiefest bottleneck of agriculture.

You can with a Distribution office . At least you can then have them queued for pickup

OP wants more vehicles per field. Pretty much like on construction sites where several vehicles can operate at the same time.
At least that's how I understood.

Exactly. There are several very large fields in the workshop and it would be great if there could be numerous harvesters or tractors working simultaneously. It would be cool to have a smaller number of very large fields instead of spamming hundreds to supply your republic.

Something like two harvester vehicle slots where they could work on opposite ends of the field until cleared, then move on to the next one? And if only one vehicle it will work just like now?

Is it not possible to set this for mod's?
There is also this border house where several vehicles can drive at the same time.

Fun fact, actual test_version allows more trucks per field. It works fine now. No more DO's are necessary for farming. You can still expand your farm with DO's, but you won't need it anymore.
Have fun finding best tractor/harvester/truck ratio for your fields, cause it depends on distances and field compositions and capacity of silos.

Do trucks from DOs do this or only if coming from a farm? I wonder if a separate DO for trucks would still make sense for a given number of fields because you can put more sowers and harvesters in a farm but not a DO.

A farm normaly needs 3 different kind of vehicles.
A tractor for sowing, a harvester for harvesting ( of course ), and a boxed truck for picking up the crops from the field.

However a farm can work without any trucks by outsorcing the job of transportation of crops from the fields to an external DO.
Doing so leaves more slots for tractors and harvesters thus the farm can handle more fields.
I don´t remember if that way was originaly planed by the devs.

The new farms give a good amount of slots for vehicles imo.
My personal approach is that I now have a few trucks in the farm as well, and have a small DO nearby to assist during harvest.

But that´s only my way of doing. Some others may like it different.

Yeah, I imagined something like this.

That we can, but I personally have always regarded this as an unintentional use of DOs, and thus it is abusing to me.

Why, I did some testing in my time, but all in all, I've found out that harvesters and tractors work way faster than trucks, so this is indeed a bottleneck - you can effectively sow and harvest only so many fields that are guranteed to get their produce carried away before winter, although the same amount of agricultural technic can sow and harvest more. But then again, I've never used DOs for agriculture.

If you pretend that all the fields are just one big field, you can have multiple vehicles sowing/reaping at the same time.

Without DO's you cant supply grain for 100k people , unless you plaster the whole map with large farm buildings. But then you have a problem collecting it all. Either way, you need DO for grain transports. Even worse than single vehicle per field in vanilla is the lack of large storage for grain. 900t silo is a joke.

You could make a string of farm buildings connected to silos connected to a rail cargo stations. One large train could collect from all the silos in a branch and bring it to a central storage for use in factories.

DOs are definitely useful for small republics though.
