can train travel through steel production

I have kind of a tricky layout and am wondering if a train could pass the steel production on the railways directly

so rail---- steel-prod---final destination

with rails attached at both sides of the factory, ... force the train by signals to pass through

I think You will need to set steel mill as a checkpoint with no task assigned. I know that trains can freely pass though stations (like oil loading/unloading or aggregate etc) but to pass though facilities I think I had to select them as checkpoint.
