Nuclear Waste?
Hi there, I'm bothering you again.

I have a serious question. I'm about to build a nuclear power plant but as some you may know the nuclear waste accumulates in a annexed special warehouse of just 27 days capacity. What happens then? It is a way to get rid of the waste or what? :(

You have several options.

1. Export containers with nuclear waste and pay a for that. It is not expensive as you will have only few containers per year.

2. There is a mod nuclear storage in workshop but you can use also the in-game container/vehicle storage to store the waste there, just keep in mind it emits radiation over time so you cannot have that close to people.

3. There is a mod for nuclear waste reprocessing in workshop but it requires tons of chemicals. You can use it to reprocess nuclear waste into UF6. That is probably the most expensive option but the only self-sufficient.

wow! thanks. Now I know. :)

The problem is nuclear fuel and nuclear waste are both in the same type of container.
If you load this container in the nuclear plant you load a mix of content.

No, you do not because there are two types of storages. Nuclear fuel is in import radiation protected storage and it should be not possible to load that. The waste is in export radiation protected storage.

I did not tested this but with other facility I encountered this feature already. For example you can bring crops into food factory but then you are not able to load them again because they are stored in import storage.

But of course I mean the radiation protected area of the power plant not the outside non-protected area where you may store containers too, but probably you are restricted to unload only into import storage there.

I had tested yesterday to make sure it worked and it does work as you say. A vehicle arriving to a building to pick up radiation containers will only load the export containers and not the import containers sitting in the yard. Didn't test at an external storage connected to a building though, but that doesn't have separate import/export yards so I'd be surprised if it worked.

How radiation work exactly?
Can I build a storage (vanilla vehicle storage) near power plant will it affect workers? Or only residential buildings counts to radiation?

Intact containers sitting in yards do not leak and are 100% safe near your citizens. Building fires, if enabled, can destroy the yard and cause a leak. Also if your waste storage fills up, the power plant will dump radioactive waste on its own front lawn.

Exporting the waste is easier, cheap, and ensures you won't be lulled into a false sense of security by the slow rate at which the waste storage fills up at first. As your republic grows, so does the demand for power, and as a result your waste storage fills up ever quicker.

I tried a nuclear plant a long time ago and it worked the way i described. Good that it changed. After that i never build a nuclear plant anymore and changed to water power. The advantage of water power is that there is no pollution or radiation an can be build right next to a living area. The workers can walk right to the plant and there is no problem with electricity shortages.

You can also in vanilla store waste in open storage.

Still no way to rid of it, except exporting?

In that case, your only options are to either store it somewhere remote (Like IRL) or export it.

You did not mention that. Your only options, so far, is to do as noted above.

We need nuclear update for soviet republic same as captain of industry did. They did really great update for nuclear power with long term storages reprocessing and stuff.
