let discuss train station
i just watched a tv documentary about the paris train stations i hang out many time in the past since i born in the neightboor hoods at 45km inside the urban area at the limit of the industrial agro farms
so 2 trains station keep retain my atention and made me think at this game and other more dedicated like tranport fever
the gare of montparnase 1990
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Gare_montparnasse_vue_de_la_tour.JPG?uselang=fr
and
the gare of austrlitz and his extension the ex gare of orsay who now is a museum 1900
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gare_du_Mus%C3%A9e_d%27Orsay#/media/Fichier:Gare-d'Orsay-BaS.jpg

the first gare because modern and mixed use with apartement and parking lot at top with as roof a garden built and metro connection underground also hidden parkings lots all around
28rails and 160m square

the second because old but modern for 1900 universal exposition they made an electrified tunnel extension who requiered to change the standard steam tractor for an electric tractor without making the passenger disembark before reaching destination 4km away middle of paris center
so its wasnt a metro the same wagon that traveled 45km to orleans was used

both make me think than no game have modular train stations able to reproduce such design
mention than all the train station have restaurant around the world and most in major city are tourist attraction by themself
as for exemple the gare du nord is reported being more big than the cathedrale notre dame de paris and need fourth more metal than effeil tower for his massive coverage

tought im not very experienced with massive train jobs in this game and canot compare with lot of others
just transport fever what not let me an impressive souvenir

is some fan of trains who play intensive rail gamepay can develop more and share their experience and expectation about games especially this one

one menber of my familly was fan of trains and brought me to gare saint lazar where others fans made a hobbist association of miniature and i was deceived to see their HO scale rails models 1/87scale was far less impressive that real ones despit the cost
they made colectivelly some poor 6way stations
even more little scale wasnt that big
so virtual gaming allow nearly unrestricted layout but who made something comparable with real ones ?
plz post a screenshoot if you have a 28+ railway station

The upcoming arrival of the metro in the game will allow modular metro-train-bus stations.
You can also build multiple stations. I already had a city with 2 large stations (a "north" station and a "south" station and 8 tracks between the station buildings).

A 28+ station would not be useful in the game.
Indeed, these immense Parisian stations that you mention (Montparnasse, Gare du Nord, etc.) are designed as multiple stations.
You have TGV access (or TGV station). Sometimes TGV and intercity train, sometimes another intercity platform area.
You also have an RER station for transport in Ile de France. Further down you have a metro station.
It is a group of 28+ but which does not constitute a single station: in reality, they are several independent stations united in the same structure.

yes the station are deserving local and regional and national
but all use the same infrastructure and are more stacked than building 6 big station next to each other
excepted montparnasse all the station are from 1930
and this era rellyed more again on the train transport than nowdays
so all have more than 20 railway some with upgrade tha doubled the initial capacity of 1900 and other was purely destroyed because the 1840 version had only 4 ways

paris get some large 4 or 6 way roads avenues during empire 1850 that linked all station to each others
and a circular railroad around external defensive walls
what was strategic upgrade of the city that merged all old neighboor village to the capital inside a large forteress what proved fail during 1870 siege

Very just !
Except one point: the fortress of Paris laid siege in 1870: it was the capitulation which forced the surrender of arms, which was at the origin of the Paris Commune and its massacres (carried out by the French on the French) .
Back to the subject, the stations.

In the game, such stations would be of no use at this stage. 4-track stations are sufficient, even if it means building 2 side by side.

One idea is to be developed, namely that tourists can travel from city to city. Currently, the tourist arrives and stays in a city. It would be nice (in my opinion) to see them go from city to city (depending on the hotels built).
With such a development of in-game tourism, large modular stations would be necessary and useful.

One can imagine a large resort, with different levels and selectable access (checkbox) allowing the different audiences to be distributed over the different levels of the resort.
This organization takes over the organization of large stations such as Montparnasse, where different audiences have access to the different station platforms (long journeys with TGV and interurban trains, workers with RER TER), the metro and the bus being the exit of the station for all .

it seem not true at all
the tourist is less limited by travel time if i remind well
so it can take train for get in another city if a high rated stars is atracting
especially after being bored by already visited atraction

having a single railway per city and direction in station can make sens for avoid signals and potential jams

actually i never seen any game or software have found a real solution for managing multifloors 3D at strategical scale
if ever this game go to allow using Q/E underground for make tunnel pass top or under other it will be dificult to visualise it in clustered city

excepted homeworld game i never seen a strategic game using real 3D
all common game fakely named 3D use triple layer of map or even more like in planetary annihilation where the vehicule to manage can be only at 4 diferent 2D level/map
can be named 2.3D or 2.4D

The reason is simple: code or program. And the fact of having to offer a game that can be played by the greatest number of people, and therefore responds to the "common" power of computers.

just atempt to descibe how if you had a team of codders working for complete your idea you will design a 3D view of a multifloor building gameplay

will you make transparents walls or a vertical cut or a per level view ?

just describ how to look inside a 20 storey building

it work in empty space game where your camera can turn around the center point

but what about walls and floors ?

Why are you asking me these questions? I was just telling you that a 3D game as you mentioned does not match the capacity of most private computers.
However, the goal of a game is to be able to sell itself, therefore to correspond to the majority of computer equipment.

I don't know anything about in-game coding, otherwise I will create my game :-)

On the other hand, in WRSR, I can't wait to see the subways and I hope that we can "zoom in" on the subway stations. Because the Moscow metro is the most beautiful metro in the world.
And I hope modders will create stations in the style of the Moscow metro.

In Paris, the RATP was inspired by the Moscow metro to create the Louvre-Rivoli station:

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ec/73/5e/ec735e31392c25e7dc17f6cbf5becf7f.jpg

But it's far, far from being as beautiful as the Moscow metro.
