Control tower placement?
does the control tower need to be close to the airport or could you just plop it at the nearest town?

well open a new game with unlimited money but all aspects enabled and try it there to see how it goes. thats my general tactic :D then i implement my tests to my play game :>

actually earning atleast a little money from tourists with a quick tourist trap.
this might be a decent reserve income before you get any industry going, the planes arent to expensive, since i cant export power as i always do.

not bad. but if a plane gets out of lane at the end due to failure of breaks it will fall down upon the city :steammocking:

Socialist planes don't crash into cities ;)

Say, did any of you ever manage to figure out what the range is on control towers?

About one map square width worth of radius is the limit.

I used superior socialist science to find out by blowing up my control tower and rebuilding it in a couple different spots, some of which worked and some didn't.

I didn't measure it exactly because I couldn't drag a road over the distance, too much in the way but that's about your measure. You don't need workers or anything to find out, if you have the runway built it will tell you instantly if it can control said runway or not.

Thank you.

Had the same question. I wanted to put it in a normal spot... but running heating pipes (and pumps) all the way out there for 8 workers sitting on their butts seemed a little excessive.
