Ones snapped at the end of an existing road it courves. With the mousewheel it changes the radius.
Just try it out and U`ll see.
What guide?
The curve can only be where the segments join and it can't be very sharp between the segments so you have to build in many tiny segments to do a large curve.

The tip with the mouse wheel was, what I was looking for, now I can make wide swings of Railtracks, much more like in real Life. With the Mouse Wheel, you can easily increase the radius of the track's curve.
