What mods for cosmonaut?
I am trying to go cosmonaut and have finally a game where I managed to get through the bottleneck when the starting money runs out and you got to finance with exports. I am quite hyped^^

What mods do you guys use? I personally feel like using mods for smaller production facilities would make it too easy. But not using mods at all is just too hard.

So I made a compromise: I use smaller utility mods like firefighters, kindergarten, sports (mainly for aesthetics) and culture (the sojus cinema mod looks so awesome!) and technical facility as well as some mods for logistics, mostly crossings.

I am carefull to only use balanced mods and have destroyed a building after finding out it was op.
But I also use a heating mod and sometime feel like that is going too far already.

What do you guys think? What mods do you use when going cosmonaut? Is there a collection for that purpose? A curated modcollection for cosmonaut playthrough would save some hours of trying mods on empty maps.

Here is a buildings collection by a fab person who is on a hiatus. These were designed for Hard Mode Challenge, which is a bit harder than Cosmonaut - so will all be fine for you. Definitely no unbalanced mods. It has not been updated for a few months, so there are some good later mods missing.

How is it harder? To be honest I just read about cosmonaut in the forums, never saw an official rule set like this hard mode. I just set everything to hardest, auto built only cement/asphalt, storages, vehicle depot, small distro a gas station, construction office and electrical infrastructure. I don't export oil and only what I completely produce myself.

The collection is nice, even if it contains some production buildings I deemed to be too op . Smaller plants for example should need half the construction but have only 30-40% of the max output and be less efficient (input/output ratio and pollution per ton) in my opinion

I agree about the smaller factories. Another thing they do is just scale down all transportation and storage requirements so you can skip / delay a lot of stuff that default factories would pressure you towards, such as multiple border customs offices, trains or other high-capacity transport, storage facilities, etc.

My favorite mods are just ones that make things cleaner, so mirrored buildings, the pipe/conveyor overpasses, electrical "combs" etc.

The link you cite is very interesting. I see different collections there. I find that a collection of self-heating mods is missing. In a cosmonaut style of play, it seems essential to me to have to know which mods are self-heated. And such a list is hard to find.

That would be interesting if you find one, let us know.

This specific collection started about a year ago, and included mods that were discussed in discord and built specifically for hard mode/small scale. It was probably last updated a few months after seasons started.

I'm ready to make a list with the different Self-Heating Workshop mods I've found (buildings, schools, cinema, kindergarten, etc.). But the big problem is, I don't know how I could create this list.

Go to a mod on the workshop you want and under the image there is an option to 'add to collection'. It will let you start a new collection as an option. You will need a low res image (anything, you can change it later for your own icon or pic) to start a new collection.

Well understood. I don't have time right away, but I'll prepare this (a list of self-heated workshop mods). If I need help, if there is anything that I misunderstood in making this list, then (and only then) I will contact you individually.
But in 2-3 days it should be over.

Great - post here, I am sure others will be interested when done. :)

btw you do not have to subscribe to a mod to include it in your collection.

I followed your advice, here is the result:

I hope this will be useful for other players.

Complementing this list, I use this mod to meet the need for religion, because I don't want a church:

The money saved allows me to pay for this gravel mine. It produces gravel without the need for workers.

From there you can develop yourself.
