Chernobyl ?
I am new to the nuclear power plant ( in the game ).I am a little afraid of it . No , I am not a baby but I never had a scenario were a nuclear power plant catches fire . What happens , it just burns or explodes ( I think the first scenario is more likely ) . I don,t want a game on which I worked 5 hours to go boom ( joking ) . I also want to ask if anyone here saw the 2019 Chernobyl . In my opinion it was incredible made .

@TheAmishStig,
@forzion,
Thanks for your inputs, element of randomness makes guessing difficult in that case. Especially, range value is usefull.
But one thing I have not experienced yet is the range of radiation leak.

If you want to have a tool to estimate how much 400 m can be then you can use a heat exchanger which shows connections to residentials up to 380m and even above as area of influence is square. If you put a factory further than heat connections reach then your residentials should be safe. I have several heating plants right on the edge and as much as I observed the edge of polluted area is about 400m from heating plant but you can apply that to whatever factory.

Anyway building a power plant of any kind close to residentials is not recommended.
A couple of screenshots of the aftermath of a fire on any building in the uranium chain. These are several years after the fire which I think it was on the Uranium Processing Plant.

The distance of the radiation leak seems to be around 110 tons of gravel:
