Do npcs use their own cars also?
Or its only transport and buses being used in the roads?

NPCs can use cars and they can be "owned" by the workers if parked in a parking lot in range of their housing. It can be used by the worker for needs and getting to work so long as there is a parking lot in range of the location and the parking lots are no more than 2km apart.

Are you considering buying the game?

Yes I am considering buying it, but one of the things I like most is managing traffic too.

So this means I could, if I have good prosperity, have plenty of personal cars?

Also, whats the options available for a sandbox game?

The game leans more on public transport, and so the majority of traffic management would be managing routes of the public buses and trains. You are the one to decide how many buses would ply one route (by buying or building them yourself).

As for personal cars, after you have built a parking lot close to the residential areas, you either buy the cars manually or build it yourself and sell them via car dealer. Steam Workshop adds lots of personal cars to choose from.

As for the sandbox option, you can opt for a blank map start, or a populated one start. Then you have the money, whether you have limited or unlimited one (you can take loans too). Advanced option right now is having seasons on the game. (As you know, the Soviet Union isn't all sunny).

The joy in this game lies in that you can build the whole country by yourself, using the resources that your citizens are collecting.

Vehicles don't get old and never need replacing :)
Anyone has anyone ever got more than 1 worker to travel in car to work?
Bastardo Sep 8, 2020 @ 2:17am
Nyet. And this is a main shortcoming in my opinion. In a separate thread I have argued for a possibility to assign cars to workplaces, so that the destination is given, and a brief waiting time for the car to let other workers join as well before it departs.

If you use a personal car as you would a bus, i.e. set it to pick up passangers at a bus station or similar, then it will fill the car. But that car is then just a regular vehicle, and not "owned" by an "individual".

As for the workers and their personal cars, they're about as keen on car pooling as we are in real life. Not at all.

Sure it would be great if they could car pool. But IMHO the largest annoyance and what makes the car "ownership" mechanic rather difficult to get use out of in it's current state is the 2 km travel limit. I mean we give you a car for FREE (you just have to wait in line for a while, but that doesn't seem to require much activity from the person wating), and in my case it's Mercedeses, either W140s or W124s that we're giving out. So you're given one of the finest cars ever made, under license right here in our own little republic, have a parking spot right outside your house, fuel is free, there's no maintenence, and the maximum distance you're willing to commute in these finest of automobiles is 2 kilometres.

I suppose the limitation comes down to the number of CPU cycles that can be spared figuring out possible places for workers to drive. But 2 km is not enough to be very useful.

Yes, this is true for shorter-distance commuters, but add some stretch for your daily ride and the cars are suddenly happily pooled. This is real life experience :)

I would go for an increased distance for vehicles. Say 3 km. But in return for the longer trips I would wish to see them waiting few sec for friends/colleagues to join. Perhaps prioritized for (or even restricted to) currently empty workplaces in a remote location, to start up operations.

Not quite, but I noticed once as a mother and her daughter rode together to the university, where the mother worked and the daughter studied.

If you zoomed in camera I bet they both look like old dudes in their 40s. :D
I think I saw that in a movie once.

So I can actually sell cars to pops and they will own them and use them autonomously?

That is so cool! And what kind of roads we have as options?
Francisco Sep 8, 2020 @ 5:50pm
I was watching a walkthrough also, whats the difference between "passengers" and "workers" in buses?

Passangers are looking for their freetime activities or fulfilling needs. And workers are looking for a place to work.

And the personal cars we sell in the dealership are they actually bought (ie. we earn some money) or they are given to pops for free?
Whitek3t Sep 9, 2020 @ 8:59pm
I haven't tried using the dealerships yet, but the cars, whether you built it yourself and then driven to the dealership, or cars that you buy straight from the parking lot you also build, are given for free (or assigned) to the people. Whether it was "sold" to the people, it isn't simulated anymore, as the in-game money is only used when buying and selling resources at the border.

You´ve sold me the game :)

Not yet sure when going to buy it (lot of work and other projects in IRL), so likely 2 months from now or if it goes on sale.

One last bigger question.

Big list of mods you guys would recommend?
More good types, more vehicles and graphics?

Just to get an idea
