Bus Routes & Workers
Is there a trick to setting up bus routes so that workers are delivered to their jobs? I put up a platform near my residential area and stops near places of employment, though workers never seem to use them.

The steps that I have taken:
1) Build a platform within walking distance of residences.
2) Build a bus stop within walking distance of work places.
3) Purchase a bus and set it up to run between the two, both picking up and dropping off at each.

Work places have the necessary materials to perform their duties as well.

The Workers like to go where its the closest so to force workers to go to a specific workplace OR Bus Station, you can select an building and tell it that its people are only alowed to work in specific places and you can select the Bus Station.

I have a decent number of unemployed according to the population statistics page. Shouldn't that make it so that they'll travel wherever is needed for their jobs if the infrastructure is there?

have you set the bus stop for workers only? sometimes passengers and students fill it up. also you don't need to set it to pick up at work locations, just drop off

I didn't set it specifically for workers, though the buses are almost always empty.

Could be a few things. Unemployment isn't "There are more people than jobs", it's "The last time people from this building/city/country tried to go to work, X hit the maximum search time before finding a workplace".

With mass transit, it's imperative to make sure the station is being hit at least once a minute. People won't wait any longer than that to be picked up; after that they'll look for jobs they can walk to from the bus stop [they won't consider other bus/train stops], and if there are none will 'give up', teleporting home and counting as unemployed. They also won't wait any longer than 4 minutes to be dropped off.

What Proteus is getting at is that each station has a maximum capacity...if there are 200 students waiting at a station that can only hold 200 people, your workers are SOL for trying to catch a ride to work.

It feels like such a cop-out answer, but can you share a screenshot? That could help us get to the bottom of it quicker.

Unemployed could mean no (or not enough) kindergarten(s), also.

I'll double-check my bus route to make sure that it's hit once a minute, though I assume it is as it's not that long of a run.

As for capacity, this is toward the beginning of a new settlement so I barely have enough of a population to fill an entire platform even if -everyone- was taking the bus somewhere. The statistics on the stops themselves are also always suggesting that very few are actually using the buses themselves.

I have enough kindergartens and schools to cover the population nearby as well. If there was a red notification text on one of the buildings, I made sure to get it up and running as quickly as possible.

As for screenshots, I can take some without an issue. What specifically would you like me to take them of?

For now, how about just some overviews of the settlement...the size of the town, maybe a couple info panes [a shop, a house, a bus, whatever]...this first round is really just for a sake of knowing what questions to ask.

Looks to me that your workers are finding work they can reach by walking first so don't look for a bus stop. Don't forget that each worker works for 8 hours so to cover 24 hours at full employment a factory that needs 150 will actually need 450. Also take into account the infrastructure needs (schools shops etc) will also need your work force, so basically you just require more people. In the mean time you could restrict the jobs available locally in each factory/workplace.

Both ends of the bus route look good, and there are enough vehicles wait time won't be a problem...but I do see one big thing.

I only see two flats for that entire complex...you have nowhere near enough workers. Whack in 3, maybe 4 more apartment buildings, and you should start seeing people making their way up to the mill.

their is 350worker for about 600jobs in the city
counting than about 20% of worker are active at a time of the day you have to reduce all the factory slots under a rotal 70free slots
then you open the right top menu for see is their unemployed or stay at home because childs
and adjust the seting for just have 4worker in your wood bus and you will be surprised by the mass of tree stucking your open storage
note in your actual city people will be sick because polution you have to check it with the air surveyor building in the same menu than hospital and firefighters
it dont requiert worker for show the polution
note2 their is no enought electric end for all the MW of the factory
you have to check the nax requirement in MW in the construction menu
each electrical cable can provide only 2MW some of the biggest factory need 2.5MW alone
i can make some factory never work at max when full of workers and the whole city have blink shortages
it can be seen by night with the lights or on the voltage counter of each building
obivouly your electric import must be related

I did some work boosting the population and it seems to have improved the town itself. I've reached the point where some of the people are unemployed now, though it seems that there's still no one taking the bus to the woodcutting and processing area.

Next time I'm on I'll start restricting the numbers on the other places of employment to see if that works.

all people are lazzy and not sure loyauty will change anything in the fact they will go to the nearest free slot for school or shopping or job
obivously they have awardness of the free slots in all the world by magic or an apply and when theystart to travel the situation can change and the slot can be full when they arrive at destination thn they will wait until their task timer end that you can check by cliccking on any cityzen
the only solution for make them travel more is they think their is no plce nearest
so you close all the extra slot when you have a factory that dont enought import as crop or when excess of export for the transports as wood
you can set so some priority
let worth or critical building all open and close to 2 the trivials
keep in mind if their is 50 of 100 people working in a place only 50free slot make other people to move at
so if you expect have 10worker then open 20slot
its impossib to fill all the slot else some people are traveling in the bus and you close the other job they sighted then they can fullfill another else it not possible following the stable logic
