Max. city size?
I'm wondering how big a city is possible to build for different people. What I found is that after hitting about 85000 people my computer slows down so much, the game becomes very difficult to play... This is on lowest res. graphics settings as well.

If there's any way to lighten the load and help grow the city more it would be brilliant.

Can you show a screenshot of this city, please? I have about 50k people in one city and computer gets busy.

I saw saves with 200K citizens and still runs fine on my PC..
Depends on PC.. but it maybe a some other issue too..
-You should try both Win 10 and Win 7 launch option.. sometime Win 10 launch option get reported is slower...
-You can compare when you city was a bit smaller (if you have some older save). if huge difference.. you can send us save to http://sovietrepublic.net/support and I can verify if there is no some issue connected to low FPS..

I expect it will depend a bit on how you build your city too. If your city has many small buildings and you use many personal cars it will probably be slower than a few large buildings served by a few trains.

HAHA - just chatting about this on Discord

First, this isn't a city builder, its a sandbox republic
Stretch stuff out

You build a city, you will get lost in the eventual traffic and congestion to support the population, which is greater then the workers you first consider

Total largest population on an entire map
I have gotten over 50k, but not gotten over 100k, due to a variety of reasons, none of which has been slowness or lag.

File corruption, hard CTD's, CTD's from bugs like trying to add a track section once, twice, three times the CTD. The game was gone a few moves back but I didn't know it then

Or simple stuff like the bumper of a truck blocks a path and things cascade

With easy mode, auto purchases and unlimited funds you can build a massive network
Then decide how to make it more not so easy, adding factory and deliveries one by one

I have around 12 communities, some big and some small, scattered all over the map with a total population of 158,000. Everywhere is connected with rail and road and every customs house is connected too. I've been running the same game save since last year and I'm in the year 2200 nearly and I play with no education or power.

The only problems I have are....

My frame rate is usually around 15 fps in a quiet area, but when I'm in a busy area is can be 6 fps.
I have about 10 farms here and there. Some are the standard 12 slot farms, some modded 16 slotters and some big 24 slot farms. I occasionally get a issue at farm entrances where a covered hull kind of merges into another vehicle and stops all movement in and out the farm. It happens on all 3 of the farm sizes and at one 16 slot farm about every day. It has never happened at some farms.

I can't get the ships to work yet so I've not bothered for a while.

I haven't even looked at cable cars.

The one improvement I would really like right now is bus timetabling... oh yes!

I'm a silly old sausage who's not very technical but here goes...

Processor...
AMD A10-7850k Radeon R7
12 compute cores 4C +8G 3.70 Ghz

Ram 16 Gb

System 64 bit OS x 64 based processor.

Windows 10

Hmmm... my system is not that far away. I have a worse CPU but better GPU.
(Phenom II x6, GTX1060)
but I am on Windows 7.

The game settings and mode will certainly be a factor in biggest republics

Hey I have very very similar specs. My republic have more than 100.000 people, with two big cities and industrial areas, concentrated population, playing in hard mode and building slowly this save almost just since the game was launched, lots of mods too and using every game option...

Well making the story short I get also as said above 15-20 fps in areas not very populated, in the other hand in city centers from 6 to 10 fps, it depends also in the angle of view, better from above as when looking at the horizon specially if there is a city in the front view even when not spotted.

Not great but honestly still playable and enjoying the game ;) Game engine only uses 50-60% of cpu (apparently it uses only max two threads or nodes, from 4), but with a better with more power per node processor it would be better surely. Graphic settings don't make difference, so I play at max, only affects the gpu wich is good enough a 1060 with 6gb, the bottleneck is game cpu usage and my old cpu.

There we go. It's still in progress, but should give the gist: A reasonable size city centre surrounded by factories.

Looking straight down and zooming in quite close tends to help. At the moment 88k.
