What are some must-have mods?
So I finally bought the game on Steam after couple of played hours, and Iam fascinated of how much stuff is in the worshop. What would you reconmend me? The onyl thing I have downloaded right now is Conveyor Road & Rail Crossings, and Id welcom if there was simmilar mod for the piping, because that was always pain in the ass.

Also one more question, what happenes when you reach 1990? Game ends, or is there infinite timeline?

I don't play mods, but there are people here who apparently have games past running past today's date, so it's quite lengthy...

In case you're unaware pipes can be raised and lowered with E & Q to go over roads etc...

My game is up to the year 2188. The money numbers get very big but I don't play for the fictional money anyway. I just like messing about and changing things around.

I have many mods but those I use frequently and for me are nearly essential:

Vanilla RCO vehicles are very underperforming - there are several ones with increased capacity and one with increased workers capacity for tunneling - it still takes years to tunnel but it is silightly more managable.
There are several texture packs that improve visuals (better ground textures and roads but it makes bridges uglier)
Vehicles you like - I use Tatra trucks a lot and there are great texture packs so you can color code vehicles to some extent.
Small pipe pump with 1 input and 1 output is must as it is both compact and very useful for pushing things into or between tanks.
Tiny cargo/bus station - very handy it can be used as dedicated extra loading space for trucks to separate traffic.
Several conveyor packs so you can construct them easily.
Gym and Stadium - there are only tiny sport facilities ingame.
Woodcutter with extra factory connector for easier placement.
Gravel mine + processing v2 if you prefer conveyor belts instead of trucks.
Small or Bigger storage facilities for greater variability. There is only one size of tank and warehouse ingame. You often need bigger one or smaller and more compact is enough.
Longer train depo - looks more realistic.
Set of construction offices - different sizes greater variability.
Power transformer with 2 HV connectors designed as inline.
If you use trains there are several mods with greater variation of stations (more or less tracks/platfroms than default).

If you use the construction yard to build your own structures, I recommend the mod version, which has several construction yard sizes, up to 32 vehicles (instead of 12). And don't be afraid to build several such yards, as things get done much faster that way.

If you are self building then in addition to the above recommendations check out the vehicle mods which increase carrying capacity. Very useful for those bigger projects.

I build almost 90% with my construction offices, and started with medium starting fees.
In addition to previous recommendations, I recommend the much smaller buildings (small refineries, S infirmary, S kindergarten, etc.) that are useful for tight budgets, and for small villages or communities, far from the capital.
and many mods, both buildings and vehicles, are enriching for the eye, your cities and vehicles look different, like IRL

I recommend not playing with mods until you've experienced vanilla

For me, no must have mods, if you want other buildings or cars, ok, but for me i want to be able to manage game without mods.

I only use "skin" mods that give additional colours to default ingame vehicles. So i can have my construction trucks yellow and whatnot, its nice. Other than that i dont use mods.

EDIT: That said, there are some nice houses and buildings to get, but i use them maybe later in another playthrough where i go all in with mods.

The dude that has the East German/DDR buildings has some great stuff, its nice having a bunch of stuff to choose from that fits in with the look your going for - just download heaps of stuff and see what colections there are. Loading times can increase a bit though

I like the earlier years too, it has a nicer feel to it with the older less efficient vehicles (and someday buildings too maybe). xD
