Dump trucks not unloading asphalt completely
Hi,

I have recently encountered a strange issue that I can't remember I had seen before.

It regards asphalt roads building via Construction Office.
Suddenly dump trucks loading asphalt (the last one delivering the last portion of asphalt) don't unload the whole amount of asphalt leaving back to the Construction Office with a tiny amount, like 0.0039 t of asphalt.
This is regardless of if a road is built from scratch or upgrading an existing gravel road.
It also seems regardless of whether an asphalt paver is used for asphalting or not.

I was trying to "empty" the dump trucks manually from the remains of the load by sending them to the Customs Office and unloading the whole load but they just turn back from the Customs Office with the same load as if they had been empty.

This small amount of asphalt disappears only when the dump truck is assigned to a new task for any new load via the CO. Then the asphalt disappears in the moment the truck leaves the CO.

Maybe not a big issue but it blocks the possibility of using the truck for an other CO or manually assign a new load - then the only solution is to sell the dump truck in the CO and buy a new one.

And no - I didn't interrupt the assignment for the CO while the dump truck was on its way causing the dump truck coming back to the CO with some asphalt.

I'm on the default version; not beta.
I haven't subscribed on any items directly related to the case.

I'm not quite sure since when it has been the issue (maybe since the last update of the default version in October).

I wonder if anyone else has observed something similar.

Best greetings!

That's been a thing for as long as I've been playing [almost a year now]...it's a rounding error.

I can't say that I've ever seen it prevent a truck from loading, though. It turns around and comes back from the Customs Office because it passes the 'is it empty?' check, so it should also pass the 'is it empty?' check when it tries to load something else.

It might be a rounding error, as you say, although the amount of asphalt left on the truck is sometimes as much as i.e. 0.42 t - quite much as for rounding.
A bit strange also that it concerns only asphalt and not for example concrete or gravel.

And apparently it isn't a "is it empty" check when trying to load anything else when the truck is taken out from the Construction Office to be manually assigned for a new load. It simply doesn't want to load anything else (except for asphalt) before getting completely emptied.

I'll try to work on the case and see what can be the problem.

Thanx for the reply Amish! ;)

0.42 is no rounding error, no...that's an incomplete unload and it shouldn't be doing that. The rounding issues are like 0.0039 or some crazy small number like that.

Definitely work on it, and if you can get it to be reliable send in a copy of your save. This is the kind of stuff that the devs are happy to fix, if they have to find it blind they won't be able to find it...but if someone is able to send them a save with a "watch this" description it'll go out in the next version.

the asphalt and concrete plants are both a little squirrely. prolly has to do with the create-on- demand mechanic.

sometimes you can assign the truck to the road depot for a moment to reset it

Come on, none of you? Ok, I will say it

Did you let it cool down and it is stuck to the inside of the truck now?
