Fuel/power consumption
I wonder if vehicles fuel/power consumption is currently linked with engine power and weight of vehicle.
Should i choose weakest engines for designated route speed or it doesn't matter (i mostly stick to gravel roads and low speed track without catenery for export routes, asfalt/electrified rails only for heavy passenger routes)?

It is 100% based on engine power. You can check this by buying vehicles and dividing fuel by engine power: you ALWAYS get about 1/kW (just a little more). The range of all vehicles is the same. Vehicles with more powerful engines can accelerate slightly more quickly, but not much more quickly. The fuel/power consumption doesn't really matter once you have your economy going so just go with high speed/capacity or whatever you like the most. If you build the assembly line and build Beetles, you'll have so much cash you'll never have to worry about anything it.

I'm try gameplay with only full chain exports. Western vehicles or early refinery is too easy way.
And when exporting food or bricks fuel consumption matters :)

not fully correct.

check rpm of your vehicle more rpm more fuel consumption . when vehincle is heavy its harder to speed up so it stays at higher rpm longer as result spends more fuel.

the more power the vehicle has the better acceleration it has but base cost of fuel is high also.

early refinery is not easy. if you dont manage it it becomes un feasible after 4. year. try to expand more and play in hard difficulty. try to reach 100k pop before 10 year.

for playing smal economies yeah. scale up your game .

if you open like 4 refinery at start the profit drops down dead . and your game stagnates. only single refinery as starter brings profit in for couple year. if you maximise its output for 4 year at the 4. year your barely make profit by buying oil and selling fuel bitumen.
i do not fully work the refinery.i produce material stock pile it wait for couple months to prices rise up them sell and buy oil.

if you want to build up cities by millions. refinery opening is not easy. i found that chemical industry is more profitable in long run than refinery. with double amount of workers chemical industry can keep profit margin with no change more than 10 year compared to fuel bitumen. so its like opening 2x refinery without price down drawback.
