Construction trains get stuck on one-way rails
Hi guys, I've got another issue that might just be down to game-play stuff.
I'm currently trying to build a major expansion to my rail network. However I have the issue that construction trains get stuck when they are done with their building task.

As its an existing network I have an established set of double tracks (one for each direction). So that means a construction train will then need to reverse back down a bit of track set up as one-way. This is expecially problematic when building spur tracks for small stations. I currently have three construction trains stuck on one little junction that is now blocking my major coal delivery route.

How can I get these guys out of the way (other than selling them)?

Also, looking forward as an improvement suggestion is it worthwhile while giving construction trains some kind of different AI that either lets them ignore rail signalling or just teleport back to the rail construction office when done?

Tomorrow I will publish a movie about such a railway line (single-track railway line with passing sidings) on YT. I just practiced this setting and it works great.

Build a X crossing so they are able to go from the left track to the right and if the line is still under construction avoid placing signals until it’s complete unless you have main trains running down it

Not the most convenient solution, but you can just cancel the job to make them teleport back to the office and then reassign the job again each time they need to return. A more off-hands approach that I use is to simply remove the signals on any sections that the construction vehicles will need to return on. This will hold everyone up while the train is working, but it prevents anyone from getting stuck.

Signals.

I currently have four different rail construction projects (rail office allows four track layers, thus four projects at a time) and two cargo trains running on the same network, with signals it's no problem.

With the latest update you can now add signals to unfinished track so you can even build the same track from both ends.

Basically, add a signal at the start of your project. At first, the section will be blocked by the track layer. Once it gets past the signal, the previous (already built) section will be open to other trains.

You'll also want a passing place or double rail so the track layer can go back and forth from the rail construction office and pass the cargo trains; that, or the cargo trains will have to wait behind the RCO until the track layer docks.
