To remove it later, use the + icon to toggle the hot bar into 'big' mode, click what you want rid of, then click the X symbol at the right.
Also: There are 10 hot bars, cycled with F1/F2...so plenty of capacity to go around, don't be afraid of it!
It's not bad if you build often same kinds of things (roads etc) and need quick access, but having the ability to shortcut already existing sites would be a massive help. I often open the windows of my key facilities, and right now I always have to go there or let the window minimized. But maybe the bar could also get such a function in future? Something like that both modes work and it's up to the user what he shortcuts.
@KG79: Definitely submit that to the devs as a suggestion! I could see that coming in really useful to do things like call up the Mayor's Offices for various towns, getting local population stats at a glance.
I was just about to suggest this, and I'm happy to know that I'm not the first! I'd LOVE to be able to access my COs via this shortcut. At the moment I have a permanent corner in the top left, covering the name of the game where I have them all minimised, but they still take up space I'd rather have on my screen. It'd be GREAT if there was either a way to add an existing building's info window to the shortcut tab, or perhaps have a similar feature that allows you to choose a number of constant access buildings to for a tab that has a drop-down window opening - even from the side of the screen would be okay. Or a floating/docking type menu.
I don't have the Beta version, but I did watch the video in another post about the new Dispatch Building (is that what it was called??), from where you can arrange for various cars to be dispatched under various conditions or for once-offs. That building too would be GREAT to have easy access to so that you don't have to physically go around the map finding your frequently used buildings.
I love the existing shortcuts. I use them for roads, footpaths and terraforming tools. But I reckon I'd use a building shortcut tab even MORE!
Pretty please...??
My two cents! :-)
very handy feature, I was also wondering what it would do.
It's in German though.

Hope it helps anyway.

Certain functions can also be mapped to the shortcut bar, including:
• The tool for measurement
• The "CO assign tool"
• Batch start/stop construction
• Demolish tools
• Pick a building/infrastructure tool
• Create city/area (great for notes)
• Prospecting tools (mod)
• Landscaping tools
• And more (some may be buggy, notably anything from vehicles' menus)
The CO assign Tool allows you to assign COs to job sites and you can select groups of COs with the numbers on your keyboard once you open the CO assign tool. Then you just click on what you want them to work on.
that is great! once you start to get used to the interface and get more practice things really start to run faster! :)
thank you for your reply and reference! unfortunately I do not speak German, but I am going to watch it still.
However at my Playlist I separated the English and German ones.
I use to do them quick in "one take", just when a topic comes up.
Of course I need to have the knowledge and last but not least the time.
Even though I have a lot of hours of gameplay on my needle I still have a ton to learn.
