Car driving range should at the very least be set at 5km.
I really wonder what the devs were thinking when they added cars with a 1km range.
They should allow people to travel to the nearest city/ work station, no matter how far away. That's what cars are for (providing there are gas stations on the route)
University educated people should move to the other cities where they are needed.
Instead of just showing up there out of the thin air.
Only people without cars should use buses and trains to go to work.
Actually construction office has problem detecting work sites past 1.5/2km even if the range is set to 3.
They will go there if manually assigned job.
Often they will build part of the road automatically but won't detect the next stage of road adjoining the bit it was just constructed
Secondly i agree with OP, car ranges are quite short for what their ideal use is meant to be, i'd propose the 2 following ideas:
- Max car range increased to 4-5km to help industrial bases further away from main towns and cities, rather than relying on buses which could take upwards of 1 or 2 in-game hours to reach their destination.
- Increase total day-time by about 25% to help workers get to their assigned job on time, and help long range travel overall (This should also have the extra effect of dealing with deliveries made as they then have extra time to get to their assigned stores / industries).
Even in the West, we are expected to travel up to 48km to work and back as part of a normal working day.
I currently work 1.5km from my home and I normally walk to work because it's simply not worth the fuel to drive there.
And what will be the new limit for cars?
