I have had to go roaming looking for the last few enemies who are wedged between some terrain like idiots when they game forgets to spawn them like magic practically in front of me "Oh wow we sure missed that mech in that open field approaching, the dropship must have also been invisible". No wonder PGI has to cheat their spawns in so hard most of the time, the pathing is so terrible that the more natural the spawn, the worse odds they get stuck.
If only enemy tanks and hovercraft would flip themselves over onto their back when I'm fighting them, when it would be useful to me.
While it can happen anywhere, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathing AI is the worse on scrap metal maps. But even standard foresty worlds I end up discovering a jenner standing on a rock ledge wobbling back and forth like a scared child beyond the pity long range scan pings you get by where you are intended to brawl. until their AI wakes up when I start shooting them.
Again, vanilla. Pray it is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathing and not "Oh they fell under the map or something" full time wasters.
So even if you did have mods? Playing unmodded would not help.
EDIT: I just ran another mission where I had to go exploring to find an enemy mech was off in the distance, standing in the open, refusing to head for the base we were meant to defend like the tanks and helicopters. To the point I made extreme range AC10 shots into them until they were legged to death. (Now, the enemy rifleman who spawned by the base after that? Real smart boy that knows where the throttle is)
Yeah. Don't blame yourself for this jank, OP.
The number of posts about problems that after pulling teeth turn out to be outdated mods or mod incompatibility
But who'd know here
Which the usual "Any bugs must be a mod's fault!!!!" tears in every franchise fanbase, keep making me resist the temptation to grab basic fix mods.
After all, need to get used to how much the game itself is an absolute ♥♥♥♥ up first, before I can appreciate when a mod fixes something, or so when something still breaks I will know it isn't the mod's fault at all. Just business as usual.
Found this post on NEXUS and it describes my problem to the "tee" and better than I could:

Hi there,
I searched through the web but couldn't find a top like this so I opened one myself.
In some missions I come across a really frustrating bug. At some point a new enemy drop ship (should) bring(s) new battlemechs/tanks (usually 4) but after depleting it doesn't take off as usually.
It stays where it depleted its enemy units. In my mission log there is always one unit left to kill and one of the four hangar bays of the enemy drop ship is still open.
To make a long story short: One enemy's missing and I can't accomplish the mission.
Does anyone has an idea what is going wrong?
Thx for your help.
I don't think the problem is connected to mods.
Again thanks for the input from everyone.
Anyhow changed up the MODs I am using and began using a YAML Mod. So far the glitch only appears once in a while. Hope someone knowledgeable with Modding can make a Mod with a Hot Key to complete Mission when the glitch happens.
