What's your favorite Mech design from an aesthetic or functional point of view.
I'm just wondering what people's favs are. I feel like this & Front Mission series are the more believable design choices as far as what could happen. Armored Core is more slick & anime like in design which is cool, but it also feels like it'd happen even further in the future than what conventional MW has set up....like several generations of tech advancements before achieving the speed seen in recent Armored Core games. I do like the variety in the newer DeamonXMachina game as well...I wonder how the progress goes in that supposed sequel they're working on.

I really REALLY enjoy the transformation function of Skells in Xenoblade Chronicles X (I hope they add even more designs in Xenoblade Chronicles X Remaster on Switch with different vehicle transformation variety, weapon variety & make the special Skells you get from completing certain party members affinity quests relevant with higher leveled versions in stead of making them useless end game, I enjoyed the Police Skell variant of Formula you get from completing that annoying H.B.'s quest line but it sucked that it's only useful to level 30 & gets left in the dust once you unlock access the next Skell Tier.) Anyone here play Assault Suits Valken on SNES (it was called Cybernator outside of Japan)? It's a great side scroller mech game on the SNES & they released the uncensored version of it exclusively on Switch along with popular H/Manga artist Urushihara Satoshi providing the beautiful artwork.

I WOULD really like to have a licensed combiner Mech game like Voltron or something...that'd be freaking cool too.

Nice, it's a shame they didn't have a Zakus variant representing a country in Mobile Fighter G Gundam. That series is my favorite with the more personal story, "Bio-weaponized" Dark Gundam & how they control the Gundams by mimicking the pilots movements instead of just sitting in a cockpit using controls...plus Domon Kasshu's epic one liner before he finishes off his opponent with his finger move.

Sigh… Jesus, it’s probably been more than 20 years at this point. But yeah, it was a great gundam series.

In spite of my love of the enforcer in battletech?

Any mech that has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hands, and is capable of moving without thrusters (Thrusters are great! But wow Char was a real sucker for falling for 'You don't need legs in space!' budget cuts)

Metal Gear rex gets an exception. They are a good boy who does not need hands anyways. But much like battletech, they are built to ♥♥♥♥♥ slap you with their gunbarrels.

Guns for hands is cooler to me when they are an optional part to replace standard arms. *eyes part type they did not bring back in armored core 6*

I am a freak Gundam wise because the only gundam model kit I have ever built is-
*drumroll*

The Asshimar from Zeta.

I love that thing. They probably got rid of it because gundam writers are allergic to Macross style legs even when the top half turns into a bright orange UFO. (Hey, guess what other franchise has had issues with Macross design aesthetic in their line up! That's right!)

No, they did not bring it back for Unicorn. The Anksha is 2/3 Gaplant, the mech that made the Ashimar obsolete within five minutes. You can't trick me.

Thanks for (R)eminding me Pete…

I totally forgot about zoids. (Cool animaloid mechs)
Well if you are really going to open this can of worms then frankly everything is pleb tier next to Robot Jox.
I loved the PTX-140 Harballer mech ("vital suit") design from the Lost Planet: Extreme Condition game. It's not too cartoonish and looks adequately utilitarian with its enclosed cockpit and sleek armour plating.

Another uncommon and more modern choice is the M1A4 "Juggernaut" mech from 86 -Eighty Six- simply due to its rather unconventional design and the context surrounding its existence.

Of course, can't leave this without mentioning the Armored Trooper VOTOMS mechs. They may look kind of funny a little bit, but somewhat believable as a rough/basic early implementation of a mech design with its sharp edges, bulky elements, and overall industrial mass-produced aesthetic. Some might also find it looking similar to the Commando mech :]

Hell yeah Zoids was a cool idea. I only got into the first 2 iterations (Last Zoids game I played was Battle Legends on GameCube, that was a DAMN FUN arena fighter) but I just haven't been able to take the newer entries seriously with the BEYOND Yugioh strange levels of over the top hairstyles of its cast...plus riding a Zoid on its neck like it's a freaking animal just seems off to me. Do the pilots not know what whiplash, shrapnel or scorch burns are? Allowing the pilot to be exposed & vulnerable is not a smart/safe way to pilot a mech in ANY scenario.

Damn I completely spaced that this film existed.....didn't Mystery Science Theater 3000 cover this movie? If not they definitely should have, gotta love me some 80's cheese. Still I'd say Pacific Rim (ONLY the first one) did Giant Robots proud in current day even though it was fighting monsters & not other piloted mechs.
Has anyone on here played Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U? If you missed out on it then you're in for a treat since they're releasing the upgraded version on Switch later this year. Here's a showcase of the Skells & weapons in the game for the uninitiated, enjoy. The Zenith Cannon reminds me of the top portion of Metal Gear Rex's Cockpit & Radar Dome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZdaZ3qkL9w
Here's the trailer for the Definitive Edition release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meabXp-IFkM
And a video going over the original XCX Wii U release & the Switch updated one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q80IT6quL0
If you'd rather not get this for Switch then you should expect some sort of upgraded version of a LOT of 1st party Nintendo games like this to be available on the more powerful Switch 2 if you'd rather wait to get the game on that system.

my favorite Mech is the blackjack.
that's why i like HBS Battletech game so much
Warhawk

Has enough mobility to get around, has serious firepower and can take a fair bit of a pounding.
