Dont think i played the first one, but liked the second one.

Checked the mod, on youtube, looks cool. But is there another also? found one called mechcommander:merceneries, looks good too. Dont think its the same..

There is a mod for the first game call Darkest Hours. It adds a hell of a lot of new missions and give more res options for newer monitors. Worth a look imo.

The less PGI has to do with the battletech franchise the better. I would play a mechcommander 3 made by HBS though

The change from turn based to real time can drastically change what kind of tactics you can pull off. Also as much as I like the HBS Battletech, it is poorly optimized in all the worst ways that it will inevitably suffer slow down as it eats up more memory the longer it's running.

While I've not got much to say about strategy in the BattleTech setting, I personally don't enjoy turn-based games. I grew up with RTSes, and had a lot of bad luck and grating experiences in the few turn-based and grand strategy games I've played. That's saying nothing about my awful luck in tabletop games.

That's all scared me off turn-based for good. I can handle bigger strategy games, like Sins of a Solar Empire and Supreme Commander, but if I've ever got to wait my turn or roll the dice, I'm going to be screaming internally every step of the way.

I loved MechCommander 2 and would love to see a third iteration of it.

Does anyone else remember that the Mech's in MC2 made no sound from their footfall. That always irked me slightly.
