Many Mech speeds don't adhere to the TT rules
The formula to calculate running speed does not adhere to the TT rules

A hex is an area of 30m and a standard turn represents 10s. Thus traversing one hex over 10s equals a speed of 3 m/s or 10.8 kph.

To elaborate, a common Atlas and Quickdraw that use their 300 rated engines walk 300/100 t = 3 hexes and 300/60t = 5 hexes. By TT rules they run at ceil(3*1.5) = 5 hexes and ceil(5*1.5) = 8.

5 hexes * 10.8 kph/hex = 54 kph.
8 hexes * 10.8 kph/hex = 86.4 kph.

PGI apparently multiplies 10.8 by 1.5 and uses 16.2 kph as a factor. That results in odd speeds that you are not used to and actually slows down many heavy and assault mechs unnecessarily. I know this comes straight outta MWO.

Also, sprinting is absent entirely. :steamsad:

I sincerely hope the developer adresses that.
Dunno if this is modable but it well should be.

PGI ignored TT rules?

Take a shot.

yes, it has been noticed even by people who have played other MW games but not the TT.

I know several of the hero mechs do not follow TT engine rules, since MWO allows that flexibility in engine use, and that is where those mechs were designed...

Joke's on you. My liver's battle hardened from a lifetime of abuse.

They never said they make this game according to TT rules?

The speeds are imported from MWO. Those speeds are all lower than the TT rules because of how MWO reduced the base speeds and put in speed tweak skill, among other things.

It's entirely modable. And will be largely irrelevant once mechlab mods are updated and released.

i remember the basic run speed of the atlas in mw 4 was 75 kph.

never played MWO but from what i saw of the gameplay vids i dodged an odd one.

the daishi was the slow one at 64 kph.

Since when did PGI care about tabletop rules? We don't have fall over, King Crab has torso twist and Stalkers are legitimately 85 tons.

Welcome to rounding error as a result of tiny numbers.

Also, how do you intend to implement the penalties of the sprinting? The -to hit, and the + to piloting check, as well as the inability to spot or fire as well?

Also, tactical operations is an optional rulebook that is not part of standard play.

Why would they make a mechwarrior game that doesn't follow tt rules? To be fair none of the others did either.

I thought Mechwarrior is Mechwarrior and Battletech the TT and the HBS game?

Yes but this time it is PGI doing it... so that makes it wrong

Mechwarrior is RPG like D&D, Battletech is the table top miniatures game.. This technically follows Battletech more than Mechwarrior..

Even HBS doesn't follow Battletech accurately..

Being real, a accurate translation of TT into a single player game... probably wouldn't be much fun ? TT can be VERY swingy.
