I took the time to watch the MW5: Clans link you provided. I also (still) play MWO, having done so for many years.
I disagree, it's nothing like MWO in it's movement, and that 3rd person POV makes me gag (*). MW5: Clans seems to be less BT realistic and more fast paced in mind. As others said with MWO, skills can increase maneuverability of a mech, but that end result is nothing like the silliness I just watched in MW5: Clans. Also, MWO is nothing like Call of Duty other than it's two teams against each other. Piloting a mech in MWO isn't remotely similar to being a 1st person action figure wearing a "robo suit" (which would be more like Armored Core?).
I would say MW5:Clans it looks more like some Japanese anime cartoon, and less battletech, but certainly not MWO or MW5 (which is painfully sluggish compared to MWO in my opinion).
I agree though that MW5: Clans doesn't appear in line with the expected norm of BT mech movement (in the vid, the mech's hips just instant-swivel and reverse when changing direction lol)
* EDIT: Have since watched a trailer on the MW5: Clans steam page and it appears you can also play this from a traditional cockpit FPS point of view, not merely 3rd person over the shoulder of the mech. Also, the mechs in the trailer don't appear as agile as the video the OP provided...
Yeah I agree lol....
Specially talking about mech movement though, I think MWO is truer to the MW-lineage as being controlled like "walking tanks" as others like to say (and not as a FPS merely wearing a robo suit). But the MWO game as a whole, without any story arc and only PvP, yes that's like popping a quarter in the machine and playing an arcade with friends (and few occassional jerks lol).
If I wrote the comment, it is because I am a Mechwarrior player since the very first PC game in 90s, and I don't like the result we are presented because I am also a COD player so I know quite well what I am talking about.
AND
This is still the wrong game forum
Agreed... both MWO and MW5: Clans have their own steam discussion boards. Yet the OP posted in MW5: Mercs (??)
Because it was not out yet if you check the date I posted.
You guys really need to get off your high horses.
Yeah it released 16 Oct... but being there's some 1,600 reviews about it now, can probably delete the OP as not relevant anymore and misplaced.
But to the other point, since you're compared it to MWO, could have posted this on the MWO boards instead of something un-related like MW5: Mercs.
Also Clans are all about fast blitzkriege warfare so obviously a game based around them should play faster than one based around IS forces.
