Well they're intertwined as Mechwarrior become Battletech in Japan and soon after Armored Core came to existence. The early Armored Core games were more close to Mechwarrior but the latest Armored Core has evolved from its origins.
What are you talking about?
Mechwarrior did not become Battletech, it has always been Battletech. Mechwarrior is just a spinoff from Battletech.
Mechwarrior isn't really a spinoff persay, it's more a point of reference. Battletech is the officially recognized name of the entire franchise/fictional universe, as well as the name of the normal tabletop game.
Mechwarrior, as a name in reference to Battletech, can actually refer to multiple things.
In the context of this thread, it would just be the name of the 1st person video game franchise, based in the Battletech universe (as opposed to all the other video games).
But it's also the name of the;
1. pilots within the mechs.
2. RPG game ruleset played within Battletech tabletop game (at least up to 3rd edition before it was renamed, probably to avoid confusion with the video game & the clix game at that point).
3. Collectible clicks game from WizKids based on Battletech (one could argue this was technically a spinoff, but we don't talk about this one).

In any case, even in Japan, Battletech was still called Battletech. But they completely changed most/all the images in it to the point that it is completely unrecognizable from the normal game.

If you guys like MW/BattleTech, I really recommend AC5 or AC5: Verdict day. It wasn't as popular and sold badly, and gets a bad rep purely *BECAUSE* it deviated from the mecha anime feel and got heavier, more industrial. It's still a very different beast, but it's the closest the two have ever gotten imo
I dunno, I thought ACV/Verdict Day had the right balance of 80s mecha anime feel and quasi-realism down to a tee. That and it was quite popular in Japan, especially the multiplayer, which was quite innovative at that point in time.

It really more depends on your build and loadout just like every other Armored Core game. Should also note that ACV/Verdict Day were more throwbacks to the Gens 1 to 3 before 4/For Answer decided to go full blown Gundam/Macross (which is why Gen 4 and 5 are my absolute favorites in the Armored Core series, storytelling wise).

It was definitely ahead of its time. If a modern game like it released on PC, with that kind of multiplayer world, it would probably be very popular.
Oh no, not this post again 🤦🏻

Comparing apples to oranges is considered to be in poor taste.

Comparing two mechas games is such an incredible thing ? Because they are different ? Isn't it the goal of comparison ? Comparing different things of the same category ?

btw if you don't like my post why the hell do you come to post here to say nothing while others are discussing ? lol

Why did you come here to post ridiculous comparisons?
Comparing GTA V to Flight simulator is ridiculous. Comparing two mechas games is not.

No, this is just as ridiculous. The only similarities that the games have at all are both having bipedal weapons platforms.
The only similarity they have is to be both mechas games >_<

Wrong…

Mw5 is where you’re a mercenary with highly customizable mechs in a science fiction setting.

Ac6 is where you’re a mercenary with highly customizable mechs in a science fiction setting.

Completely different…
