Tips Getting Started with Mods?
Looking to get back into the game with mods. I don't want to go to crazy, having to tinker with dozens of mods and lists. Does the Steam workshop have enough or would I also need to go through Nexusmods? Are there any good collections for "simple" installations? Do I need any DLC to really get into most mods?

Cool. Gonna be honest I've rarely used Steam Workshop for mods, more used to Nexus, do I just click subscribe to all to get them all active?

This is a basic list and has some general info, there is also a link near bottom to Phfors nexus collection. is very curated and play tested, use vortex for it.

And yeah just hit subscribe on anything that you like on workshop. Both nexus and workshop mods have to be activated in the games mod manager in main menu when it boots up however, then reboot title and good to go. Don't change load orders or will just break stuff.

This collection is really good not needing nexus or dlc.

Apart from the above - don't use a mod list.

Is that alone all I should get for now? Seems pretty comprehensive.

The YAML Base Collction is extensive and you probably don't need anything else. I was mainly referring to being wary of mod lists/collections you see on stupid reddit or older videos on YouTube

Awesome, I'll go with this one. I just have to click "subscribe to all" right?

Wayz's collection is about the only steam collection that I know that doesn't have issues.

Beyond that, mostly what you need for modding the game is some common sense, and reading comprehension. Reading the descriptions and last updated dates go a long way to having a functional game.

I went in and started enabling all the mods, and some of them say they conflict with other mods. I only have the mods from this list, should they all work together or are there some that I have to choose from?\

To specify, Yet Another Mechlab and Yet Another IS Mech seem to be conflicting, and Yet Another Weapon and Yet Another Weapon - Addon and Fixes are conflicting. I imagine one is just overriding some things from the other and should be fine.

There is a note on that collection about conflicts. Those ones are just overriding files with the same files for the sake of compatibility. You can ignore them on either of my collections. Adding mods besides though, pay attention.

yea theres been some talk in the yaml server about that recently. Really recommend setting it to Vanilla or doing a custom one at first.

It looks like those settings are primarily related to economy, what are some good settings to lower the difficulty a little from balanced?
